IRS To Be Charged With Levying Fines Against Americans Without Health Insurance

No lies. Even Nana Pelosi says she believes it is "very fair."

Stone: Do you think it’s fair to send people to jail who don’t buy health insurance?

Pelosi: … The legislation is very fair in this respect.

The blanket has been lifted off the HC bill to point out that failure to comply with the purchase by does allow for jailtime through enforcement of IRS tax code (doesn't make it any better ;)):

Unbiased source sez so.

The blanket has been lifted off the HC bill to point out the two provisions that do allow for jailtime for failure to comply:

Perhaps if you actually listened to what she said instead of what's alluded to.

The failure to comply and jail-time is related to failure to pay taxes of any kind..including income taxes and taxes on undeclared income.

The sections often quoted aren't in the Health-care bill at all..they're in the tax-laws.

Oh..and your 'unbiased source' is a clone of the first blog, word for word. Two people copy-pasted the text from some other source.

The letter from the JCT includes a list of civil and criminal penalties. These aren’t penalties for not buying insurance, however. They’re penalties for refusing to pay the resulting tax. Barthold’s letter says:

Barthold letter, Nov. 5: Depending on the level of the noncompliance, the following penalties could apply to an individual:
Section 7203 - misdemeanor wilful failure to pay is punishable by a fine of up to $25,000 and/or imprisonment of up to one year.
Section 7201 - felony wilful evasion is punishable by a fine of up to $250,000 and/or imprisonment of up to five years.

These are not sections of the House bill itself. Rather, they are sections of the current Internal Revenue Code, laying out the consequences of willful tax nonpayment. (Here’s section 7203, section 7201, and an additional section that sets a higher fine than 7201, as noted in the letter’s footnotes.)

Buy what obama tells you to buy or it will land you in jail.

You can choose to not get insured at all..but it'll still cost you 2.5% in income tax - to help cover the rest of the tax-payers if you walk into a hospital uninsured and walk out without paying.

If you already have insurance, you DO NOT HAVE TO PAY THE 2.5% tax.

If you refuse to pay ANY tax for ANY reason, you risk jail....been that way to decades.

With all the spinning you're doing, Cerise..it's no wonder your logic seems dizzy.

Ohhhhh, I get it now......they will use the tax code to enforce the mandatory purchase of health care insurance.

F'it. Obama should've just gone for the single-payer option in the first place..instead of trying to save you from yourselves.

Bishy
I'll let you know when this goes through
and I tell em outright to shove it.

Or the original link, a member called "Communication Guru" has done a fine job of debunking the whole idea that you can go to jail for not having insurance.

I don't have time nor the inclination, at the moment, to go look at factcheck or anybody else. Don't really have to either. If teh IRS sends you a bill & you don't pay it, you go to jail.
