Among those in La Palma for the opening was Brian May, lead guitarist of pop group Queen, who studied part of his doctorate in astrophysics at the Canary Island institute.

May, who recently published "BANG! The Complete History of the Universe" with astronomers Patrick Moore and Chris Lintott, said he was adding the finishing touches to a musical score which will be played at the telescope's inauguration next summer.

I love the music of Queen.

A quick off-topic question, is learned correct? shouldn't it be learnt? :confuse3:

I must be confused, since the spell check in FF just put a red line below learnt

'Learned' is listed as the preferred past tense form. 'Learnt' is listed as the alternative past tense and past participle form of learn. :)

Now, there is also 'learn-ed' ---- 2 syllables, with the stress on the first, that is the adjective form

It can mean the same thing. It does not necessarily mean the same thing. Lemme ask you a question though. Do you think Darwin's theory has to do with whether or not we evolved?
