Your ships are posted to the arabian sea, not the persian gulf.

Its not that they fear getting to close to the action.. its that they have positioned for all of the Afghanistan stuff for months and months.

What's better than Canada? 200 troops? Puh-lease

Canada's got 30 people in the strategic side (some sort of exchange of troops), plus several boats in the water in that area.

They've sent over thousands of troops into Afghanistan to "free up" american troops for the war with Iraq.

We might not be there to bag us a few Iraqis, but we're there...ya know.

I found it rather interesting that of the two 'warnings' to Iraqis that Bush issued, he mentioned "Do not destroy oil wells" first, then he mentioned "Do not use WMD".
 
I'm pretty sure he's more affraid of losing precious oil than losing the lifes of some 200k soldiers.
 
I don't think so, if you go back and listen to the statements, they are directed at the Iraqi Military, telling them to preserve the oil wells is in their best interest, not Bush's. Somehow you people have this idea that because he is President, he is somehow going to gain ownership of these wells. He's not.
 
Time will tell what, Luis? That the President of the US is somehow going to gain private ownership of oil wells in a country the US military invades? That's ridiculous.

Not what I meant PT. I just thought it was in bad taste to mention that first. The lives of our soldiers are far more important than some oil wells ;)
 
It's all psychological though pad. You tell them what is good for them, then tell them what is good for us.
 
I don't buy that reasoning at all.

On the other hand... if stuff like the Alamo suddenly gets renamed as the West Disney/Enron Cowboy Frontier Park.. thats where I draw the line.
 
I'm not about to start knocking the Canadian efforts in this conflict. They're participating to the best of their ability, and I, for one, appreciate it.

Luis, I'm also looking forward to the look on your face when the Iraqis start selling their oil again ON THE OPEN MARKET and begin to enjoy some of the benefits other than maintaining an obscenely huge military machine. For someone who seems to really care about how the "little guy" lives, you've got a really blind eye to the possibilities here. Is it that you simply can't accept that the US might be in the right?

Is not that i can't believe that, it is just that i'm a firm believer that this war is about oil and only oil, of course the US have to get rid of Saddam to do that and it might be good for the people as well, your goverment might disguise their goals with altruistic speaches, but that won't change my mind. As i said, time will tell, i always accept when i'm wrong, if my assumptions are incorrect i will accept it and say "hey, you guys were right, seems like i've catalogued bad your goverment".
 
And if, in fact, Texaco ends up being the new gov't over there, I'll do the same. It just seems like you've taken every oppourtuunity lately, and even manufactured a few, to bash the US over one thing or another.
