Just took the kids to see this movie on Sunday, and I must say that I enjoyed it more than they did J

Much like many cartoons/kids movies being released as of late, the majority of the sight gags, and one-liners are not now, nor are they expectedt o be, aimed at kids. The kidlets will appreciate the music, and the flashy colours, but for the real humour in this movie (and it’s predecessors), you have to catch the irony/call outs and you can’t do that unless you actually ‘get’ the historical references.

In either case, I did NOT find it funnier than the first movie, but I did find it AS funny. Both movies got me several good laughs and at least one occasion of me spewing my soft-drink (coke) at MACH4 towards the movie screen. The sound is great; the jokes are sublime etc etc…

What I can’t understand is why their primary characters are often ignored when I ask people about their fav. characters. I personally am mad about the Penguins (Skipper, Kowalski, Rico and Private. I’m also a fan of Prince Julian and the Two British Monkeys.

If you’re like me, you’ll find that they all have a larger role in this movie…kudos.

I recommend the movie to all people with kids…and especially those of us who are still young at heart. :D

I need to take Marlowe to see this. She got fandango bucks for her birthday and is itching to redeem them for the tickets.
It could be worse, it could be HSM 3 :ashamed:

I am so glad mine are only marginally interested in that stuff. HSM, Camp Rock, Hannah Montana. I kinda dodged the bullet there.

Yea i just saw that to, i went with my 3 year old brother, he really enjoyed it, i think. just like the OP said older people as in not kids will get the hidden jokes alot more. i watched some older movies lateley like the Goonies and i noticed alot more humorious thing in it.

Liked it a lot but not as funny as the first. The jokes were more subtle than the first.

However, the part about the monkeys asking for maternity leave had me cracking up hardcore.

I was a bit disappointed. It is a good movie that had me laughing several times, but still, not as good as the first one.

is the second movie of any orginal movie as good, i mean just look at "escape from N.Y." great moive i loved it, but "escape from L.A." sucked i hated that movie.

Several movies have as good as or better sequels than the original one.

The hubby and I took our 2 kiddies to see it - they loved it. I liked the first one better and hubby liked the 2nd one better.

You're just ornery, ain't ya?

Besides, I was quoting Rob. I have seen neither...in their entirity anyway.

A few ones that come to mind, Harry Potter series, Back to the future, Star wars (ep 5 > ep 4), Terminator (2 > 1), Ice Age (2 > 1).

Well i really don't think that opion on those movies, it is all up to the viewer and what they deside.

Gone in 60 Seconds (70's version>2000's version)
