Who's against it that doesn't have kids here?

Odd that all the doctors and psychologists / psychiatrists are against it. But those people don't have kids.

So you really think that ALL the Dr's and Psychologists and Psychiatrists are against it? That's funny.

So lay it out here Flav, were you spanked as a child? Is that why you feel so strongly against it? Do you think you didn't deserve it?

I was spanked as a child, most of the time I deserved everything I got. Hell, alot of times I deserved it and didn't get it.

Finding any associations that are for it? I'm sure there's a couple individual doctors around that might be if you look around. Meanwhile this mountain of evidence against keeps getting larger.

I against it because there is a mountain of evidence that it can have harmful effects not to mention there are more effective other methods.

It is often the case that the victim in domestic abuse cases thinks they deserve it too. Ever hear of that?

And so does the piles of bullshit.

Yes, a couple of you have made quite an effort to stack up the bullshit as high as the scientific evidence, but I don't think you'll be able to keep up.

That's probably a large part of why pyschiatrists aren't worth listening to.. :p

Yep, if you're really determined to use violence on children you're not going to like what they have to say about it. Easier just to close your mind and swing that rod at them.

Dr. Baumrind, a psychologist known for her classic studies of authoritative, authoritarian and permissive styles of child-rearing, said she did not advocate spanking. But she argued that an occasional swat, when delivered in the context of good child-rearing, had not been shown to do any harm.

Sorry?

?

Is that supposed to encourage the use of corporal punishment even though it says she did not advocate spanking?

Are you blind? Or just reading the parts you want to?

She found an occasional swat does no harm but does not advocate spanking.

Do you somehow read that as strong support for corporal punishment?

How does that trick work?

From the same article

there's strong evidence that other methods work just as well," said Dr. Straus

So you can hit children OR use some other method that works just as well that does not involve striking them.

What's the plus now? Maybe we can get a little exercise in at the same time?

I'm sure no-one is advocating daily beatings at 18:00, just in case the kids have forgotten who's boss. We'll all agree that that could quite liekly adversely affect a little kid. But spanking is perhaps even more effective a deterrant as it is a punishment, and so even if I don't plan to do it all that often, it will certainly remain an option and more importantly, my kids will always be aware that it's always an option.

can't you just even see a LITTLE BIT what others mean, flavio?

not much to debate about at this point.

it's the same thing with you time and time again....you're even more short-sighted than a blind man

I just thank the stars that we have this pillar of morality to tell us all how evil we are.

As the last researcher said I can see that an occasional slap probably won't do any harm...sure. There just are better ways. Think anybody is seeing a little bit what I mean?

We have all these people ignoring large amounts of scientific evidence and you're calling me shortsighted? Strange.

Explain?

Nope, as always you must be 100% right and we are all sinners beneath you, that's all. All hail Flav.
