New Car Shopping

Now Squiggs we all know you really want one of these

You guys don't get that lovechild of Mercedes and Swatch in the US then?
Its called a Smart car. I know having small cars in the US is just a freaky idea. I think it helps with parking in Italy somewhat. Double and even triple parking here seems like a way of life...

And now the Smart roadster (www.smart.com)

Nope, we don't get those here, I don't know why, I think they would probably do good in a large metropolitan area. As long as they can get up to 80mph for the freeway that is.

Maximum speed: 135 km/h speed-regulated (83.88495 miles/hour)
Acceleration
0 - 100 km/h in 18.3 sec.
Turning circle 8.7 m

18.3 seconds? egads! I could do better with a bicycle. I'd probably have more cargo room as well.

I've seen several smarts around here, however imo it is just too expensive for a small car.

A mini couper would be far better.

In Europe you need tiny though *remembers treets of Germany* *shudders at the thought of driving a fullsized car or truck there*

Why would anyone want to drive in such an econobox? No thanks... It doesn't even have a trunk. Where do you put stuff?

Some streets, and they are the exception. If you could only drive small cars there you wouldn't get large Mercedes or BMW from Germany.

Check out the Hyundai SUV, Squiggy....I've driven several different iterations of that one and it's a great ride. Right around your price as well...

good warranty...decent incentives (in CA. anyhow), sorta crappy mileage like the Kia...but hey, it's an SUV...

..and I KNOW you want new..but all you do with that is pay the premium. Used cars are just as good , if not better(I'll explain that further if ya want , than ;) ), than new ones. Warranty carries over, new car bugs are shaken out, NO BREAK IN period....and a lot more...

plus you can save yourself about 30% or more...

which you'd otherwise lose the very second you drive off the lot in your new ride...

...or, Squiggy...if you look to your left...that beautiful "sunshine" camper/motor coach home away from home, including a zippy 2 litre fuel injected motor, 4 speed manual...new tires...

..and SO MUCH MORE!

...all for the low low price of....

..well...

pretty low...

DAMN LOW!

...it's low I tell ya...

If you had a wreck in one of those around here, the person that hit you'd probably never even feel it :laugh5:

I'm gonna be in the market for a new car this summer as well and I've got my sights set on a small utility vehicle too. I've heard some good things about Kia's but haven't been out to test drive any....maybe in a couple of months.

Pad, If you can hold off until late August/September, do so. Thats the tail end of the model year and the new years issues are coming onto the lot. Thats when you have the best leverage against the dealer for buying the old stash.
