New Stem Cell Method Avoids Destroying Embryos

the constitution is the BASIS for laws and goverment, not the be all and end all.

like the bible is the basis for x-ian living, not the be all and end all, unless you are a fundie.

Which is why Gonz said this...

The Constitution. If it needs amending, then amend it. Otherwise, follow it.

That's Christian living...If you're going to be insulting, at least be respectful about it.

The Consitutions neither prohibits funding medical research nor encourages wasting money on unnecessary military actions.

This is the kind of thinkiing that gets us where we are today.

The Constitution IS the be all & end all. It is not the beginning of the government, it is the full limit of them. The federal government may not do what is not expressly allowed unless the legislators & the states cooperate & amend it.

The X in x-ian actually stands for something...I can't remember it exactly, either a greek character or the cross...in either case, it's not insulting per se ... just a shortcut

I think you mean "The Constitution IS the be all & end all only when convenient for my current position".

The occasionally seen belief that the "X" represents the cross Christ was crucified on has no basis in fact; St Andrew's Cross is X-shaped, but Christ's cross was probably shaped like a T or a †. Indeed, X-as-chi was associated with Christ long before X-as-cross could be. (The Greek letter Chi Χ stood for "Christ" in the ancient Greek acrostic ΙΧΘΥΣ ichthys.) While some see the spelling of Christmas as Xmas a threat, others see it as a way to honor the martyrs. The use of X as an abbreviation for "cross" in modern abbreviated writing (e.g. "Kings X" for "Kings Cross") may have reinforced this assumption.
