Oil Prices

World Oil Prices are nearly $40. barrel. OPEC is our friend.

Yeah...but its a shame that Esso, Shell etc...are not our friends, and despite the price of oil... they still insist on playing the prices their way.

OPEC has enough oil reserves to last generations...a temporary oil price adjustment shouldn't affect their overall inventory all that much..especailly if they use stock-averaging...like they should.

I won't get into economics'cept to say that they set the price and agree on it despite claiming to not be working together.

Think on the bright side. In 18 months, SUV's will be a dime a dozen.

The Texaco Station next door to me is charging $2.21 a gallon (all US currency and measurements), and Fresno/Clovis is traditionally one of the cheapest places in California to buy gas. So when adjusted for differences in measurements and exchange rates, your prices are pretty similar to what people in California pay.

I'm paying $1.659, plus or minus a penny, on base. Off base is usually 5 cents or more expensive.

Current fuel prices here (Florida Panhandle) for 89 octane (regular) unleaded (in USD):

$1.85/gal in Vernon (where I live)

$1.89/gal in Panama City (where I work)

$1.99/gal at the beach (stick it to the tourists, baby)

Yesterday - $2.42/gallon USD
Today - $2.73/gallon USD

That's nearly $1/litre 98.9 cents to be more specific...

all this after Saudi Arabia said that they'd INCREASE production by 1.2million barrels/day

Shouldn't that be DECREASING the price of gas??!?!?!?:devious:

You'd think it would decrease. The fact that the government flatly turned down the idea to diminish the amount of tax we are paying on it makes me just as sick.

The oil business is rather odd. Events in the production sector take some time before they affect refining and marketing.

Prices jumped .06/gal overnight here. I'm still not complaining. Our fuel prices are still relatively cheap.
