Only Americans are "Blacks"

The Caribbean and African imigrants have the right attitude, and I applaud them. I hope they continue to refuse to be corrupted by the "American way" that the "black leaders" are trying to "explain" to them.
Any "black" problems this country has are legacy problems that are a residual of the way African-americans were treated in the past. There is a lasting disparity because of that (and for other reasons as well). However, that problem is by definition a problem for US born children that are disadvantaged because of the history of our country. If you are an immigrant, then you don't fit into that category at all. You aren't "disadvantaged" because you are black (or whatever else), though you might certainly be disadvantaged because you are an immigrant. You come into this country with the same opportunities and challenges as all other immigrants, regardless of color.
The "black leaders" (like the good 'ol Rev) are dissilusioned at best, criminally minipulative and damaging at worst when they continue pushing falsehoods like the above article snippet mentions.

The Republican would prefer to get them to work, helping themselves. NOt having tehm dependent on big brother. If teh democratic ideas work so well, why is it, after a better part of 50 years of (D) leadership, they're still the poorest minority living in the worst areas, with the worst schools? Because the Dems FAILED.

Well Gonz, perhaps its because the last three republican presidents have managed to undo years of hard fought advancements in their first few months in office. Priority one for republicans has always been to widen the 'Class' gap in America. They Give all they can to their rich buddies, pump up all of the corporate welfare programs, slash or repeal any laws those corporations think are hurting their profits, and then they start stripping away any social programs regardless of the success they've had......Bush is stripping away veterans benefits even as he calls on us to support the troops...In short, their charade is rather obvious...

Couldn't have said it better myself....
Not all republicans are bad though...I can't remember who it was but it was a republican who authoured the Job Training Partnership Act where the governemnt compensated bussinesses for training unskilled workers....But that was way out of character for them. I don't doubt Bush and his cronies have done away with it.

I would BET you that the minorities in America would say, to a man, that Clinton was acting in their interests. And further, that NONE of the three republicans were. The Class Gap didn't widen during the Clinton administration and I think you'ld be hard pressed to find something to support a claim that it did.

I bet you're right. Unfortunately, it's because they're so hung up on on "class warfare" they can't see thier past & it's absolute failures.
The class gap didn't widen because slick willie took the riches from the working man & gave it to teh poor. Hey, isn't that called COMMUNISM?

If people want compassion, have 'em go see their doctor. If they want to get ahead...vote every single piece of shit legislator (local & federal) out of office & start over. Make term limits one consecutive term. They can run again after the next guy screws up (or kicks ass). Make partisanship count. Go back to the 1800's fistfights in the Senate chamber. Duels outside the House. Those folks knew how to run a country. And one last thing...

i must admit that trying to blame the democrats for not achieving their aims when for probably half the time they've not had the power to do it is a bit far-fetched.
being from overseas i don't really understand the libertarian stance [but if it has to do with ayn rand then i'm disappointed, her quality of writing is appaling], but i'd be happy to see a disollution of the two-party system.

The democrats have held the congress, in majority, for (about) 44 of the last 50 years. They are the "party of (poor) people. They have discussed & discussed & discussed & discussed & discussed the plight of the black man in America & have promised to fix it. They haven't.
