Hell, I got diamond earrings for Valentines last year and when brainsoft broke up with me like 5 months later I was dumpfounded and was like "but you bought me diamonds!"
A diamond ring, even though it has been stated that it is not an engagement ring, holds SOME sort of significance. I may not be titled as such but at the very least it's prolly seen as a "promise ring"
