Saddam's Sons Likely Killed in Firefight, U.S. Officials Say

I'm glad the world is rid of such destructive people, but i will never rejoice in the death of another and i consider the newspapers here who had pics of their dead bodies tasteless and sick, are we as a society so barbaric that we rejoice and post happy articles at the demise of others? As as far as i'm concerned those people are no better than the 2 brothers themselves and should take a long look at what and how we have become.

Anyone hear on the news that there is a rumor in Iraq that it wasn't his sons?

Musta been another Elvis sighting. The news seems to be going out of it's way to find those that disagree with anything we do over there. Most of the journalists who come back are saying, something to the effect of, what we're being presented on TV & what's happening on teh street are quite different.

I just find it incredibly ironic that when they show pics of our dead soldiers, they are barbarians, yet here we are, showing off our pics. :disgust2:

Damn PT, going soft on us? ;)

Soldiers are covered under UN mandates...despots aren't. The people wanted to see for themselves, we showed 'em. Due to a free press, we also showed the rest of the world.

if the sons are military men then they would be covered i guess. i can't see how free press breaking un mandates is better than a non free press doing the same.

I interpreted that differently, Gonz. i took it to mean that the Iraqis are worried it wasn't them. I think most Iraqis are afraid (and not without some justification) that when we leave, Saddam or one of his offspring will just grab power again.

What does the UN know? After all, they couldn't even seem to find all those WMDs that err.., umm..., that we can't seem to find either. I guess it's only wrong if they aren't the enemy.

That's exactly what it meant (your interpretation). That doesn't explain the gunfire & assorted other celebratory acts that happened all night after it was clear they were dead. Somebody wants to create another Vietnam (does the term quagmire appear anywhere else?)

* Wonders why they didn't just surround the place and wait them out in hopes of gaining information from them :confuse3:

*Knock knock*

Who's there?

US Military

BANG BANG BANG BANG (gunshots)

How the hell does a militayr unit havea 4 hour gunbattle with 4 guys???

Not soft, Gonz, just realistic. I find it all just a little scary what's going on in the world these days.

called hypocrisy. theyre barbarians when they kill yet we are not  unlike gonz i dont think your going soft on us PT.i think you realise they are humans just like us. hence my earlier quote in another thread: there is no good and evil just two sides who cannot see eye to eye. im glad you mentioned the irony in your post

You're going to explain it away by saying they're not soldiers. C'mon man, that's weak.

did you hear his (saddams) quote in the papers today.

If I had 100 more sons I would offer them in the same way

still thinking he mourned them?
