a cardiff uni professor claims that sars is from the stars in a letter to the lancet, citing that is so unlike other viruses that an extra-terrestrial origin is logical.

professor chandra wickramasinghe also admits there is no hard evidence for his theory.

for those of you who've not heard of prof. wickramasinghe he frequently makes bizarre and unsubstantiated claims about stuff coming from space. generally viewed as a bit of a loon this isn't doing his reputation any favours.
