No, there isn't a law requiring it. But if all my capital was tied up in a small business with my name on it, I think it'd make good business sense.
 
Even if there was a law requiring back ground checks, in an industry that has a high turn over rate there would be a minimum effort made in the area...
 
Another good point. High turnover pretty much removes the incentive for doing a background check or drug check on new hires, since it's at the employer's expense.
 
Yea and from what I have heard construction has a substantial turn over, I can see in some areas the contractor would be looking for warm bodies, anything to finish the job...

Background checks prevent companies form hiring illegal aliens, sex offenders, criminals, drug addicts & conservatives.

Companies that don't do background checks are probably run by GW or Cheney.

Everything bad is the fault of Cheney & GW.

Thus, companies are bad & need regulation from left-sided government officials & state dept employees.
