Well i do 'have' one, but its in the loft and not loaded and will never be, cause its not totally legal and not totally mine, the thought of taking a life with it sickens me.
The thought of taking a life sickens me too, unless I'm doing that in defense of my family and my country and my friends. For that I'd be happy to shoot as many people as I can. There is nothing more honorable in the world than protecting a) your family, b) your friends, c) your country. And we have the balls to do all 3.

dude, keep it down aiight, you getting close to the personal attacks

gun ownership and military service have no connection. fighting for your country has no correlation to gun control.

READ: It has correlation to protecting your family. Because SHOULD the day come, I'm ready to kill FAST and efficiently.

i was replying to your first comment, not the later ones.

protecting your country through military is one thing. protecting family through gun control another.

Well whatever, I feel the need to carry two 9mm pistols because I want ALWAYS be the most efficient killer when it comes to protecting my family and friends. I consider it part of my honor and its a personal thing. Thats why I need guns.

Hey, LL, you can have a discussion without getting so pissy. I like guns too, I like having the right to own a gun, but if someone else doesn't, that's their right as well.

LL you know what it comes down to? machoness. The day you grow up and realize that not everyone is big on that and you don't need to be a macho showoff, you'll be a better person.

fine, thank you, now the debate over private ownership of guns can be had if wanted, as that was what the thread was referring to.

edit: damnit, too slow on my posting, everyone else gets in ahead! :)

Um me, macho? Have you seen my picture? I'm not strong, and don't have a lot of stamina or constitution. And I am by far not the biggest, anywhere.

ris, you call this not a personal attack? :mad2:

Better then being told to fuck off.

LL, I'm with you on this one, but you're not helping your own cause. Calm down a bit, OK?

Right, thank you :) I'm a bit emotional right now, and I get carried away. Justin, I'm sorry ok?

OK in a nutshell, here is what I believe. Just as a soldier has a duty to protect his country, he has a duty to carry his gun. Similarly, I want to protect my family and friends, and for that reason I will carry a gun or two. Not that I will ever need it, but in that rare situation I do, I want to be the fastest most efficient killer to get rid of the threat. I consider it part of myself and part of my honor. A soldier in battle that forgot to bring his gun will get killed. Similarly, if I don't carry a firearm, I'm lacking. Protecting my family, friends, and country is the most important thing to me in the world, which is why I want to enlist too :)

I agree about the gun thing. I feel that every American should own one, but to go so far as to say that if you are not carrying your firearm, you are lacking? That just scares the hell out of me. One day you are going to feel threatened, and shoot some 10 year old kid that jumps out from behind a car holding a toy gun. I really feel sorry for you sometimes, LL.

No, not that way. I don't reach for a gun until I'm absolutely sure its a need. It has never happened to me here in Canada or the United States, but did happen once to me in South Africa. I'm very careful, and I've been trained with the proper techniques and ways to use a firearm. I'm not irresponsible. But, without a gun I cannot efficiently defend my family and my friends (hence thinking of taking up a martial arts sport). Is a soldier not incomplete without his firearm?

the firearm could be seen as the object that defines the profession of soldier [wigs for barristers etc]. i see no reason why a citizen is not complete without a firearm.
