Is a soldier incomplete without his firearm? NO, he is not. A firearm is a soldiers primary weapon, but by no means his only. I'm a Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do, and could defend myself and my family in a time of need. Even before I had training, I would not have felt comfortable carrying a firearm all the time.

I don't have the luxury of hand to hand combat training. I'm not strong. I'm not fast.

You contradicted your statement. If a soldier has a firearm, then without it he IS complete. Not helpless, but nevertheless incomplete. I grew up with guns and stuff, and my family placed a great feal of attention on it and the correct use of it. For me its a normal part of my life. In Canada I can't carry it, and I find me always trying to adjust it under my jacket but nothing is there. Ah well, life's life.

Sf, all you're going to hear is that banning guns takes away your right to defend yourself against "criminals with guns".

This is an emotional subject for a lot of Americans. Not all of course. Our country was founded by firearms. We broke away from a tyranical government with firearms. If it wasn't for the firearm, we would not exist. That's one way I feel. I also feel it is a God given right for me to carry a firearm in order to protect myself and those around me as LL has already stated. Will I ever need one for that reason? I don't believe I ever will, but stuff happens and it is better to have a firearm and not need it than not have one and need it. If you're not comfortable carrying one around with you, then don't. I don't have a problem with that and never said I did. Although a firearm is much more efficient than any martial arts could ever be in a specific situation.

On the subject of a soldier being incomplete without one. He most certainly is. Check out the Marine Corps' Rifleman's Creed. This is drilled into everyone who goes through rifle training. Which is all Marines.

THIS IS MY RIFLE

There are many like it but this one is mine. My rifle is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I master my life.

My rifle, without me is useless. Without my rifle, I am useless. I must fire my rifle true. I must shoot straighter than any enemy who is trying to kill me. I must shoot him before he shoots me. I will....

My rifle and myself know that what counts in this war is not the rounds we fire, the noise of our burst, nor the smoke we make. We know that it is the hits that count. We will hit...

My rifle is human, even as I, because it is my life. Thus, I will learn it as a brother. I will learn its weakness, its strength, its parts, its accessories, its sights and its barrel. I will keep my rifle clean and ready, even as I am clean and ready. We will become part of each other. We will...

Before God I swear this creed. My rifle and myself are the defenders of my country. We are the masters of our enemy. We are the saviors of my life.

So be it, until victory is America's and there is no enemy, but Peace........................

That sums that subject up for me.

I don't remember this thread having anything to do with banning guns, Luis. I made a simple observation from Hex's felony background.

I'm SO joining the Marine Corps... :D

Start doing push-ups now, LL. Oh and mentioning that you've kissed a guy would probably not be a good idea while you're in the corp.

lol, I'm working at it. I've not yet made up my mind between Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corpse, but the Marines are definitely enticing. :D And stop with the guy kissing thing. :yell:

No, it wasn't. It was about non-Americans not being able to understand why everybody should have the chance to carry firearms.
I am not an American, and although I do not agree on all points here, I do understand your motivation.

I just don't like being generalized, that's all. But you've made your point clear, thank you :)

ohhhhh yes, but i was anticipating the future of the thread ;) :D

i've had this discussion so many times that i know from memory what you guys will say :D

Sorry bout that Shadow, but there are folks that I deal with who are really not interested in my point of view and generalize "gun people" as crazy, paranoid, nut jobs. So I tend to return the favor. I'm talking about Americans as well as non-Americans.

Mhhh...:)

I'm always interested in other people's point of view, and even though I don't always agree with all of them, I still try to listen :)

Thanks :)

somehow i see a constant need to "defend" yourself from "criminals" as some type of paranoia.

^^^ is quite agreeable once you persuade him you're right. :p Give me another few days Mitch, we will make a right wing dude out of him yet. :D

LUIS! :yell: That wasn't meant for you.

i assume that was directed to Sf.......

i will never stop being a commie ;)

You're right Luis, you probably won't. But you are a sociable little commie bastard. :D
