National War Memorial vandalized
Spray-painted anti-war slogans washed from monument's base

[font=Times New Roman, Times, serif]OTTAWA (CP) — Vandals spray-painted anti-war slogans on the National War Memorial early this morning, just hours before Remembrance Day ceremonies were to begin.

Police said that just before 5:30 a.m., black spray paint was used to deface the base of the memorial.

Staff from the National Capital Commission erased the slogans with a pressure washer.

Disrespectful, it is a monument for people who have fallen to preserve our rights.

love to find em, drop em in the black watch armoury.

let them handle it

This is a classic case of what happens when teachers are told to not teach about the wars in class. This is what happens when stuff like the Pledge of Alliegance is taken out off schools.

This is the world you've made, people.

Hey Canadians. How many of you stopped what you were doing at 11:11 this morning for a moment? How many of you knew you were even supposed to?

Hey Americans. How many of you stopped for a moment during your Vetrans's day?

Damn few I'll bet.

I know the feeling bud. Been there done that. It's what ya signed up for though.

Good to know the grip in the troops hasen't diminished any though. :D

I simply don't know how to react to this. It's too complicated for my tired brain at 3:48 am. Lets see, assholes diss veterans. Kill all assholes. People who kill assholes diss peaceniks. Kill people who kill assholes who diss peaceniks. People who kill assholes who kill peaceniks who diss veterans are full it it, kill people who kiss assholes and trip peaceniks and diss veterans and are full of it. And don't forget the politicians who put the veterans where they are now, kill them to. Whups, they're veterans. Kill the peaceniks who kill politicians because politicians are veterans but also because politicians put veterans where veterans are today and where they are today is under threat of serious dissage from suspected peaceniks who are killed by peacenik killers who are drugged and then the people who kill peacenik killers who are drugged diss politicians are are full of it and should be killed for being asshole and then the veterans say screw you puma and stride forth undenied by wind or rain and give puma a cookie which contains and virus but which tastes good but which is full of shit and has the face of a politician on it and dies of starvation puma does because he has traveled to a place where there is no food and where time stands still at 3:54 am because puma types constantly without stopping and is banned post-hastedly by the dissed staff of Off Topic Central who judge forth undenied by rain and storn and such and wind and say unto puma: "you suck"

Hey Prof, I don't remember singing "God save the queen" in schools, but I doubt that this or the Pledge of Allegiance would have prevented this. Increased focus on recent history might have though.

A lot of kids are more focused on the newest video games and TV shows than history. I'ts all of our fault for using the TV like a babysitter.

At 11:00 on the 11th day, of the 11th month...I stood and took my 2 minutes of silence to think about those that died so that I might have the freedom to work where I work, think what I think, and write what I write.

Against Iraq or not I still honour those who died in any war.
my thoughts exactly. i hope this satisfied the perps juvenile needs, because it certainly didn't do anything to help their cause.

We didn't go to the same schools back then. Hell, I recall several songs that would get a teacher fired today. Like "All thing bright and beautiful".
