In this particular instance... yes. My ankle is healed enough to begin strong exercise again as well as get back into the hardcore dieting. The sudden metabolic shift and drop in calories causes a certain 4 day long low grade headache that is my bodys way of protesting... but is the one true indicator that I am properly in the 'zone' and starting to shed weight.

I guess its sort of the same way that weightlifters and runners crave their own certain measures of pain under the mantra of 'no pain, no gain'.
