The new Halliburton

How are we to know?

If, as you allude, Halliburton is the only company able to provide that service..then why was the bid process skipped? In a bid process, they would've gotten the winning bid anyway, right?

No bid contracts are routinely granted to companies which are declared "sole source" for the services or products they provide. Your premise that they would win the bid anyway is specious as the bid process costs a lot of money. You want to waste money so you can feel better?

I used to work for a company in Anaheim, CA which was a sole source supplier of high reliability spaceborne data tape recorders. There was no other company making them so they were the only game on earth. ESA, JSA, Israel, NASA, et al would simply send the order and specifications for what they wanted and Odetics would build it.

and you, jim, can explain the massive coincidence of halliburton's alleged competencies and an unnecessary war that appeared to require exactly the same.

Yes. No other company possessed those competencies. Period.

So far you have failed to answer my question and have avoided doing so by posing a question to me -- which I have answered. A question is not an answer. It is a question.

Your turn.

I will accept your premise if you can name any other company, worldwide, which is as capable as Halliburton in doing all of the jobs they are specialists in doing, has the resources, and can do the job as well.

So...if Checchi & Company Consulting, Inc. is called 'sole source', then it's all good?

Exxon Mobile, BP, Chevron, Conoco-Phillips?

Tough to tell if you don't let them compete for it, eh?

Did you not read his post?
Sole source provider?
If there is only one customer for a product or service
and the cost of market entry is really high
the number of companies willing to compete
is going to be really small?

The rebuilding 3rd world countries for the
United States government is not a growth industry.
Turning a profit in that market segment aint’t
a stroll in the park I’m sure Bud-dy.

i never denied the specific capabilities of halliburton. i am in no position to determine whether or not any other entity has any/all of those same capabilities.

you need to reread this entire thread. you're taking a heroic stand against a windmill's shadow.

it's entertaining, though.

and jim... you're my hero. big kisses.
