ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (CNN) -- The effort by U.S. officials to justify raising the terror alert level last week may have shut down an important source of information that has already led to a series of al Qaeda arrests, Pakistani intelligence sources have said.

more on the CNN website...

remarkable that CNN reports it..it's not really pro-US. i don't take the information for granted, but it would be kinda slobby if it turnes out to be true...a pity for both sides.

Loose lips sink ships!

It's not just a fancy piece of one-line poetry. Some people should just learn to :stfu:

They should but they won't. The NY Times is on the assisting the enemy list.

the NY Times shouldn't have known about it in the first place...a thing called 'national security'

In background briefings with journalists last week, unnamed U.S. government officials said it was the capture of Khan that provided the information that led Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge to announce a higher terror alert level.

The paper was stupid to print it, but not as stupid as the "unnamed US GVT officials" that leaked the name to the press. Hope they get turfed for their indiscretions.

Eventually, the newspaper is going to have to give it's source. Witholding evidence is a crime. ;) Protecting a source, however noble in intent, is abused in practice...
