At least four people landed in the hospital with minor injuries Sunday, after a tornado touched down at a provincial park north of Sudbury, Ontario.
The storm hit at Halfway Lake at 1:15pm, and there were over 800 campers in the park when the storm struck. “Trees are down everywhere. (There's) hardly anything left standing, a lot of damage,'' said Len Blasevic, the park superintendent. “Right now it looks like a war zone . . . it was a miracle no one was killed.”
A good chunk of Ontario, including Windsor, London, and Toronto, were under a tornado alert on Sunday afternoon. The warnings were eventually downgraded to watches, and then cancelled. Cooling evening air was the cause of the cancellation.
