Well they banned guns in Britain ...

The Framers never intended for one person with such a narrow view to be the one to dictate "how it is". If they had, the president would hold supreme power.

And yet, we have a President who wants to dictate to me "how it is" with full backing of the Demonicrat congress. "after all, you can't eat what you want, drive your SUVs, and keep your house at 72 degrees, and think that that is OK."

OTH, I don't think Gonz has proposed anything that interfers with your life. Interesting.

Yeah I'd expect you to bring up that guy, swirling in a sea of corruption charges. Regardless of whether the charges are true or not he's a real "feel good" hero for you cons. Too bad his recidivism rate is no improvement whatever to his predecessor.

And all the savings his crappy tent city net are more than nullified by:

In fact he has cost the taxpayers a pretty penny with no tangible result.

When it comes to crime and punishment, feel good heroes like him are a conservative mainstay. If you can fool the public, who cares what the actual result is?!? I'd suggest you read up on this slimeball before you go using him in an argument again.

I'd also suggest you try and put yourself in the place of one of the many families of people who have died or been injured as a result of cruel and unusual punishment at his hand. But then I have never seen you post anything that suggests you are capable of empathy. I'm sure you are, but I've never seen proof.

You can blow smoke up our ass but what you are saying is inflated.

SNOPES says this is true. The post is unattributed.

SHERIFF JOE IS AT IT AGAIN!
You all remember Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Arizona , who painted the jail cells pink
and made the inmates wear pink prison garb. Well...

SHERIFF JOE IS AT IT AGAIN!

Oh, there's MUCH more to know about Sheriff Joe!

Maricopa County was spending approx. $18 million dollars a year on stray
animals, like cats and dogs.. Sheriff Joe offered to take the department over,
and the County Supervisors said okay..

The animal shelters are now all staffed and operated by prisoners. They feed and
care for the strays. Every animal in his care is taken out and walked twice
daily. He now has prisoners who are experts in animal nutrition and behavior.
They give great classes for anyone who'd like to adopt an animal. He has
literally taken stray dogs off the street, given them to the care of prisoners,
and had them place in dog shows.

The best part? His budget for the entire department is now under $3 million.
Teresa and I adopted a Weimaraner from a Maricopa County shelter two years ago.
He was neutered, and current on all shots, in great health, and even had a
microchip inserted the day we got him Cost us $78.

The prisoners get the benefit of about $0.28 an hour for working, but most would
work for free, just to be out of their cells for the day. Most of his budget is
for utilities, building maintenance, etc. He pays the prisoners out of the fees
collected for adopted animals.

I have long wondered when the rest of the country would take a look at the way
he runs the jail system, and copy some of his ideas. He has a huge farm, donated
to the county years ago, where inmates can work, and they grow most of their own
fresh vegetables and food, doing all the work and harvesting by hand.

He has a pretty good sized hog farm, which provides meat, and fertilizer. It
fertilizes the Christmas tree nursery, where prisoners work, and you can buy a
living Christmas tree for $6 - $8 for the Holidays, and plant it later.. We have
six trees in our yard from the Prison.

Yup, he was reelected last year with 83% of the vote.
Now he's in trouble with the ACLU, again. He painted all his buses and vehicles
with a mural that has a special hotline phone number painted on it, where you
can call and report suspected illegal aliens Immigrations and Customs
Enforcement wasn't doing enough in his eyes, so he had 40 deputies trained
specifically for enforcing immigration laws, started up his hotline, and bought
4 new buses just for hauling folks back to the border. He's kind of a 'Git-R
Dun' kind of S Sheriff.

TO THOSE OF YOU NOT FAMILIAR WITH JOE ARPAIO,

HE IS THE MARICOPA ARIZONA COUNTY SHERIFF .

AND HE KEEPS GETTING ELECTED OVER AND OVER
THIS IS ONE OF THE REASONS WHY:

Sheriff Joe Arpaio (In Arizona ) who created the ' Tent City Jail':
He has jail meals down to 40 cents a serving and charges the inmates for them.

He stopped smoking and porno magazines in the jails. Took away their weights Cut
off all but 'G' movies.

He started chain gangs so the inmates could do free work on county and city
projects.

Then He Started Chain Gangs For Women So He Wouldn't Get Sued For
Discrimination.

He took away cable TV Until he found out there was A Federal Court Order that
Required Cable TV For Jails So He Hooked Up The Cable TV Again . Only Let In The
Disney Channel And The Weather Channel.

When asked why the weather channel He Replied, So They Will Know How Hot It's
Gonna Be While They Are Working ON My Chain Gangs.

He Cut Off Coffee Since It Has Zero Nutritional Value.

When the inmates complained, he told them, 'This Isn't The Ritz/Carlton...... If
You Don't Like It, Don't Come Back.'

More On The Arizona Sheriff:

With Temperatures Being Even Hotter Than Usual In Phoenix (116 Degrees Just Set
A New Record), the Associated Press Reports:
About 2,000 Inmates Living In A Barbed-Wire-Surrounded Tent Encampment At The
Maricopa County Jail Have Been Given Permission To Strip Down To Their
Government-Issued Pink Boxer Shorts.

On Wednesday, hundreds of men wearing boxers were either curled up on their bunk
beds or chatted in the tents, which reached 138 Degrees Inside The Week Before.

Many Were Also Swathed In Wet, Pink Towels As Sweat Collected On Their Chests
And Dripped Down To Their PINK SOCKS.

'It Feels Like We Are In A Furnace,' Said James Zanzot, An Inmate Who Has Lived
In The TENTS for 1 year. 'It's Inhumane.'

Joe Arpaio, the tough-guy sheriff who created the tent city and long ago started
making his prisoners wear pink, and eat bologna sandwiches, is not one bit
sympathetic.. He said Wednesday that he told all of the inmates: 'It's 120
Degrees In Iraq And Our Soldiers Are Living In Tents Too, And They Have To Wear
Full Battle Gear,
But They Didn't Commit Any Crimes,So Shut Your Mouths!'

Way To Go, Sheriff!

Maybe if all prisons were like this one there would be a lot less crime and/or
repeat offenders Criminals should be punished for their crimes - not live in
luxury until it's time for their parole, only to go out and commit another crime
so they can get back in to live on taxpayers money and enjoy things taxpayers
can't afford to have for themselves.

I’ve lost my sight, my job..and yob went free

By BEN ASHFORD

Published: Today

A FURIOUS dad who lost an eye when a beer bottle was slammed in his face by yobs blasted British justice last night after the only thug to face court walked free.

Disgusted Dave Barry, 45 - who had to give up his job as a machine operator because of the injury - hit out: "The justice system is a joke. I wish I hadn't bothered going to court.

"I've lost my sight, my job and gone through all the stress of facing this guy in court - and for what?"

He spoke out as police released a gruesome picture of his battered eye taken shortly after the April 2007 beating.

Dad-of-one Dave was attacked by the raging mob as he walked home after a couple of drinks in Oldham, Greater Manchester.

They piled in after Dave saw a pal's 14-year-old daughter with them and asked why she was not at home.

He said: "She was outside a pub with a large group of youths. I was quite concerned so I told her she should go home. Some of the group started heckling and shouting abuse at me.

"I turned to go and felt this almighty impact to the right of my face - it was like a hammer blow.

Stamped

"I briefly lost consciousness and woke up to find myself on the ground being kicked and stamped on from all angles.

"I could feel blood pouring from my face. I was clutching my eye because I was terrified it was falling out."

Several youths were involved, but police could only find enough evidence to prosecute 18-year-old Zachary Applegate.

Causing someone to lose an eye rates as grievous bodily harm which carries a possible life sentence.

But Applegate faced a lesser assault charge as police could not be sure who swung the bottle.

The first trial collapsed last September when a juror was spotted discussing the case outside court.

On Tuesday, Applegate admitted actual bodily harm at Manchester's Minshull Street Crown Court. He was given a one-year community punishment order coupled with 150 hours of unpaid work.

Dave, of Failsworth, Greater Manchester, said: "He's got off with a slap on the wrist. It's shockingly laughable.

"It was my belief before all this that if you took part in a gang attack you were all equally responsible for the outcome.

"And when I think of all the stress, the taxpayers' money and the wasted police hours, I wish I hadn't bothered. The system's letting victims down terribly - and the only people who seem to benefit are the criminals."

He added: "There's no such thing as justice any more.

"I'm not the same person I was before, and I probably never will be.

"This bloke still lives in my local area. He gave my partner a filthy look the other day when she ran into him. It's awful."

Det Sgt Jason Byrne, of Oldham CID, said: "David was an innocent man subjected to a terrifying assault. His injuries were appalling but could have been even worse, such was the ferocity of the attack."

Well this guy didn't find the justice system to harsh, did he?

Mockery of justice

By DAVE FINLAY

THE furious family of a man left fighting for his life after being attacked by a boozed-up Asbo thug blasted Scotland's soft touch justice system last night.

Andrew Murray, 45, was in a coma for three weeks and will need treatment for the rest of his life after the street assault by violent yob Shaun Ross, 23.

Ross - who was under FIVE bail orders and banned from Aberdeen city centre at the time of the attack - was caged for just 30 months yesterday.

Sickening ... cops seal off the scene of vicious attack

Sickening ... cops seal off the scene of vicious attack

Last night Mr Murray's brother-in-law Stan Gordon, 45, said: "We are talking about a man who almost died. He was in a coma for three weeks.

"Andrew has the life sentence. He is on the road to recovery but it is going to be a slow process.

"Ross will likely be walking the streets of Aberdeen again in 18 months. I don't think that's fair."

The High Court in Edinburgh yesterday heard Ross, of Aberdeen, floored his victim with a single punch during a row over football.

Mr Murray fractured his skull and suffered a blood clot and bruising to his brain after falling to the ground during the 10.30pm attack at a bus shelter in Union Street, Aberdeen.

The paper mill worker underwent behaviour changes following his coma and needed physiotherapy as well as speech and occupational therapy.

The court heard a week before the assault Ross - whose previous convictions include fire-raising - was placed on an Asbo with conditions that included a ban on him entering city centre streets between 7pm and 5am.

Judge Lord Brailsford said he noted that only one punch was involved but he added: "The results of that blow were catastrophic.

"As a result of your criminal behaviour Mr Murray has been left in a very significantly disabled condition.

"He is likely to remain that way and that is a tragedy for him and his family."

Jobless Ross - who pleaded guilty - was caged for 27 months for the attack in February this year and a further three months for breaching bail conditions.

Nor this guy. Habitual criminal. Time to stop wasting air on him.

Yeah, and the ones who can be rehabilitated, lets house them with these guys until they become just as bad, then they can kill someone else and we can kill them.

You know approximately one in ten men on death row is an innocent man! We need to speed up the appeals process so these innocent men die quicker and we don't have to find out about it and feel bad about it....

I would prefer to take him out to the woods, tie him to a tree, break his knee caps, and give him a columbian neck tie. But, that's just me.:evilsmok:

Being as you are on ignore I usually don't read your posts, but I read this one. One of two things is true here, and I am betting that what is true is that you would never have the balls for such a thing. If I'm wrong though, you are just as sick a fuck as the guy you would like to off, and you belong in a cage yourself. You'd make some prisoner a nice girlfriend....That much I am 100% positive of!

I dunno if you're aware of it, but you're discussing three different things at once there.

The first guy might be rehabilitation .... he was let out with community service. I highly doubt that's going to so much to teach him that what he did was wrong. In fact, from the article, it sounds like they've convinced the victim that even going to the cops was useless.

The second guy is a habitual. No need to discuss rehab for that guy. 30 crimes on record.

Your post about innocent men in prison has nothing to do with the discussion in play. That's not penal, that's judicial. How are innocent men convicted? How is evidence found for something that didn't happen? I'll tell you .... because the cops/lawyers/judges only want to close the case as quickly as possible. Cops frequently fail to find evidence that doesn't fit with their pre-conceived notion of how a crime occurred. Lawyers won't present evidence that might free someone, even when they know it exists. That's why "full disclosure" exists, but prosecution attorneys are regularly found to have not disclosed all.

But that's nothing to do with penal reform.

OK, Inky, go ahead and say it. I know you're busting at the seams.

Toronto girl gets life for killing rival
Melissa Todorovic sentenced as an adult
By Allison Jones, THE CANADIAN PRESS

TORONTO - A teenage girl with a "capacity for manipulation" and a "lack of empathy" who waged a relentless campaign to have her 14-year-old perceived romantic rival killed, was sentenced Tuesday to life in prison for the "malevolent" crime.

Previously identified only as M.T. because she was just shy of her 16th birthday at the time of the murder, her adult sentence for first-degree murder means Melissa Todorovic can now be named.

At her behest, Todorovic's then 17-year-old boyfriend lured Stefanie Rengel from her home on New Year's Day 2008. The boyfriend, known only as D.B., has pleaded guilty to stabbing Rengel six times and leaving her to die in a snowbank.

Ontario Superior Court Justice Ian Nordheimer said it was a "horrific" crime committed "for reasons that are still unfathomable," and that the facts of the case are unprecedented.

"One can only hope that they remain so given how truly malevolent they are in their content," he said in his decision.

"The concept that teenage angst becomes a driving force for murder leaves one both shocked by, and incredulous at, its manifestation."

Todorovic viewed Rengel, who had been in a brief and non-sexual relationship with D.B. when she was 12, as her rival and over the course of Todorovic and D.B.'s "stormy" relationship, Rengel grew for Todorovic "from an irritation to an obsession," Nordheimer said.

Todorovic "engaged in an unrelenting campaign over many months to cause the death of a 14-year-old girl that she had never met," he said.

She placed "relentless pressure" on D.B. through instant messages, text messages and Facebook messages threatening to withhold sex from him if he didn't kill Rengel.

D.B. earlier pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and his sentencing hearing begins in September.

Defence lawyer Marshall Sack had maintained that Todorovic was less culpable than D.B. because he was the one who actually stabbed Rengel, but Nordheimer disagreed.

"Put simply, the puppet master is not less blameworthy than the puppet," he told the court.

"Indeed, I would suggest that the master is more culpable since he or she puts the wheels in motion and then stands back under a facade of disassociation while the scheme they have created unfolds."

In handing down the adult sentence, Nordheimer set Todorovic's parole eligibility at seven years - the maximum for someone under 16 at the time of the offence.

Members of both families cried after the sentence was read, while after hearing the words "adult sentence" a hint of a smile crept across the face of Rengel's 13-year-old brother Ian.

Outside court he faced a throng of cameras to read a statement on behalf of his family.

"We are relieved at the adult sentence and we appreciate the difficult decision that Judge Nordheimer faced," said the boy, with his parents Patricia Hung and Adolfo Rengel close behind him.

"Melissa Todorovic is a disturbed individual who needs all the help that our system has to offer," Ian Rengel said.

"We pray that she benefits from the services now available to her and can grow to heal and become a balanced and rational member of society."

One pre-sentencing psychiatric report "notes Melissa's capacity for manipulation and her lack of empathy," Nordheimer said, adding that the same psychiatrist suggested if Todorovic re-offends potential targets include partners and "possibly" children.

The evidence suggests a "frightening" character flaw, Nordheimer said. He said he favoured an adult sentence because of the greater potential for monitoring her.

Todorovic would be completely free and unmonitored after serving a youth sentence of six years in custody and four under community supervision, whereas even if she is paroled after seven years in prison under an adult sentence the National Parole Board could asses her reintegration into society, Nordheimer said.

"Someone must be charged with the task of at least making an effort to follow Melissa's progress so that if a risk should again present itself there may be some hope of interrupting its path," he said.

Sack suggested Nordheimer erred in several areas and said he will be recommending an appeal. Todorovic, he said, is "devastated" by the sentence.

"You have to understand that she is only 17," Sack said.

"She's been in custody for 18 months and this has been for her an ordeal and yes, I understand that it's nothing like the ordeal that the Rengel family is suffering."

Nordheimer offered a few words to the Rengel family before delivering his sentencing.

"To the degree that it is possible for any stranger to do so, I understand and I sympathize with the loss that you have experienced and the pain and the sorrow and the anger that you feel," he said.

"Nothing the justice system can do, or might ever do, could ever possibly right such a terrible wrong."
