What a moron!

I'll admit that it is indeed odd. However I don't think it's odd enough to justify being run over by an SUV. I would probably be pissed if some kids were bouncing a ball and actually hurt my car, but they didn't even hurt the car. They even apologized, proving to me that they aren't the juvenile punks that you see too often hanging around the mall. This woman needs to be locked up.

No. I just think it's curious behavior for teens. 8 year olds I could see doing that. Teens I can't.

Like I said...just something to do out of boredom. Bouncing the golf-ball off the ground, and off the wall to catch it, and do it again. All the while just gabbing about the latest MP3 player...I can see that...

Sorry. My memory trigger was against the full name. It didn't dawn on me right away that you were naming the character within the movie when the game is usually about the movie title itself.

That's called "balancing," and there used to be quite a little support for laws of that nature at one time. I'm not entirely against it, but I think the punishment should be worse than the crime. Of course, in the PC "United States of the Offended" country we live in today, actual "punishment" has gone the way of the dodo.

while I do agree Chic, we do have the 8th amendment against unusual punishments and excessive bail

A golfball???

That's sort of like walking through a mall carrying a crowbar. Maybe it's totally innocent, but it's still unusual behavior.

Given the choice, I'd far prefer them bouncing a golf ball than selling dope or any of the other nefarious activities teens seem to find compelling. Better a golf ball in a parking lot than a frozen turkey out a car window, no?

My guess is they were bored, and happened upon a golf ball that rolled out of some putz's Beamer. "Course, I wasn't there. Still, I would be much less alarmed with kids bouncing a golf ball in a prrking lot than I would three teens just lurking in the same parking lot. I imagine you would be too.

Kill the harpy and let's move on. She forfeited her membership in the human race by her deeds.

Odd occurrence on the mention of that movie..
I flashed back to the night I watched it the first time in a drive in of all things! (Barcardi 151 and some cool buds)
The supposed release date was 81 but that was the second time it was released.
I remember seeing it with people I only hung out with in the 70's.
Yep Who saw it the first time and who'd ya see it with?

I know the first time I saw it was at one of those hallowed signposts of adolescence, the famed Midnight Movie sponsored by the local rock station. I don't remember the year, but it would have been early 80s for me. I acquired a VHS copy some years later, and have it on my To Buy list of DVDs.

The soundtrack was something of an anomally for collectors. Upon initial release, it was easily found. Then for a period of years, the LP version was a minor collector's item. I know mine which I still have in near mint condition went up in value to a decent $35 price for awhile. Then it plummetted again when it was re-released (dammit). I got the CD in a bargain bin for around nine bucks brand new. Good tunes though. Particularly fond of the Don Felder title track and the BOC tune.

Leeloo: Leeloo Dallas mul-ti-pass.
Korben Dallas: Yeah.
Leeloo: Mul-ti-pass.
Korben Dallas: Yeah, multipass, she knows it's a multipass. Leeloo Dallas. This is my wife.
Leeloo: Mul-ti-pass.
Korben Dallas: We're newlyweds. Just met. You know how it is. We bumped into each other, sparks happen...
Leeloo: Mul-ti-pass.
Korben Dallas: Yes, she knows it's a multipass. Anyway, we're in love

Aw, Kee-Riste. Will you people stop that. Now I'm gonna have to watch that again when I get home.

I'll say this again: If it's not cruel and unusual, it's not punishment. And the excessive bail deal does not apply to attempted murder.

As I said I do agree with you. It is the 8th amendment that prohibits these things. I agree with you.

The 8th never defines cruel or unusual.

I've heard more to this story. It seems the woman, upon further reflection, made teh U-turn...that we all know. She, once finishing the deed, lit a cigarette, which is punishable by death in some communitites, & asked to borrow a bystanders cell phone. The bystander replied "911 has already been notified". She acknowledged this & again asked to borrow the phone. Seeing she was comletely bonkers, the bystander agreed. She called her (presumed) hubby, told him she'd just run over a couple of kids...following up his question, she responded "I was being attacked, it was in self-defense".

Not so says several witnesses.

Nice. Blame the victims. Already lining up an insanity defense. Didn't somebody in New England try that, too?
