I always thought a Sun Dog was a bright spot in the sky (I think always in clouds) that appears to be the Sun, but isn't. Just a reflection/refraction thing... almost like there's two suns in the sky at once (and again, when it's cloudy neither would be blindingly bright or anything like that).

Then again, I'm usually wrong all the time.

When I was younger I saw what I can only describe as ball lightning. Pretty freaky. Could be an early onset of Alzheimer's though... I won't rule anything out at this point.

It seems the poll hasn't been fixed. I've seen Aurora Borealis, a few eclipses, a sun dog I think, and I was in an earthquake in CA when I was 9. It was a little one. Only shook the shelves.

Actually, I should say I've seen both kinds of eclipses at least once (solar and lunar).

Well, I'm in oklahoma and have witness tornadoes - fortunately never too up close and personal, though. We had a right nice 'scardy cat hole' where I grew up.

Same here, except Kansas. The closest I've been to one was about 1/4 mile. Close enough to feel it, but narrowly not in it. Thank god too, as I was in a car at the time.
