North America is a continent. South America is a continent. However, because Mexico has more in common with South America than the rest of the continent, regions were given... South America and Mexico became Latin America, and North America stayed the same.

no. Its all under a grand catch all of 'Pacific Islander' since its all isolated by tectonic plates and sheer geographic distance.

Central America is the part of Latin America that lies on the North American continent.
