Depends on what color glasses you're wearing at the time.
Generalizations tend to be fairly broad and it's assumed that if the majority fit one part of the generalization, that they fit all of it.
Case in point: A great many Mexicans living in the USA got there illegally...granted, you've got an issue on your hands.
They work illegally, don't record wages, don't pay taxes, work cheap etc.. But assuming that the person standing in front of you is an illegal immigrant, doesn't pay taxes, doesn't record wages, works cheap just because they're of Mexican origin, that's another story.
If you act on your assumptions without proof (call Immigration officers on him/her) - you may just be wrong, open to libel, and open to being arrested for pressing charges without support.
That's a bit extreme...but I prefer sledgehammers over jewelers picks.
