Soooo...If Miley Cyrus was your 15 year old daughter would you be ok with this photo in a magazine?

Miley Cyrus isn't even OK with that photo... she's pretty pissed off, actually, from what I understand.
 
Yup...and I am having a hard time faulting her at all for it. I can't fathom what was going through the heads of Annie Leibovitz's when she shot it or Vanity Fair when they ran it.

I have a hard time sympathizing with somebody who ALLOWS themselves to be photographed like that then bitches when it hits the street. Don't want pictures of yourself like that? DON'T POSE FOR 'EM! Jeez...

No...it's Miley...it's the bra photos that are a look alike.

SnP - Think of it like this. Here is a 15 year old that is being told by a bunch of professional adults to sit like this and move like that. I am betting she was pretty much starstruck with Annie. I am not certain that she should have been able to make this decision by herself.
 
she had a choice when she walked in, its hard to feel sorry for someone who decided this was an ok choice.
 
its not that hard of a choice, do i take my top and bra off or not. at 15 she should be capable of that, wether or not her publicist thinks so or not.
All she really had to do was remember what her counter parts have went thru like britany and other teen stars.
I think the real problem was is that she probably didnt ave her fathers permission and did it anyways.
 
What professional photographer asks a 15 year old to take her top off without getting arrested? Blaming this on Miley is a little like justifying underage porn.
 
Apparently Annie Leibovitz can, she did by the looks of the PICs published.
Plus im sure she had to sign consent forms just so anne and herself was protected.
I just think she is upset that she made a stupid mistake and they showed up everywhere. I would be too, but we all live and die by the choice we make.
 
The pictures themselves aren't so bad...if she was 18 but this just sets a precident. Can a 15 year old sign a consent form and then pose nude? Where is the line drawn? On actual frontal nudity or a bare bum? A 15 year old couldn't sign a consent form for that.
 
I dont think so either, I am surprised they didnt have her mother or father in for at least the signing and the telling of the kind of pics being taken. Maybe ol billy ray just said do what you feel is right. we will never know.
Id have to make my kid a hermit if they posted pics like that....
She would look like a mole when she finally came back too. :)

Starstruck? I seriously doubt most 15 year olds would know Annie's name.

I stop short of calling any adult who would stage such a photo a professional.

As far as having to make the decision by herself...she's 15. How'd she get there? She didn't drive herself, and I doubt dear Annie picked her up either. A parent should have been there. If not a parent, given this child's status as a celebrity, then at least a manager and a quasi-entourage of people on HER behalf. Show biz types. Show biz types who should know good'n damn well what these photos would become.

But let's address the title of the thread here. I have a 15 year old (step)daughter. A freakin knockout of one too I assure you. Puts Mylie to shame. And you can bet the last dime you'll ever hold in either hand that photos like this won't be happening. In fact, should a photographer even be bold and foolish enough to hint that he might be remotely thinking about possibly suggesting it sometime in the future under a hypothetic situation, the bastard will spend the remainder of his days blowing in a tube to get across the bedroom.

But.

She DID pose for them. Show me a 15 year old girl who doesn't know better than to get topless, with or without a blanket, with a camera in the room. C'mon. She knew. She cannot be that damn stupid.

You are fortunate enough to have a marketable talent, and choose to become a public figure. Fantastic. You make a ton of money, you get fame, you get perks beyond any of our ability to fathom, you get pampered. Absolutely wonderful, happy for ya. Keep yer damn clothes on, or when the photos/videos hit the streets, then STFU and take that too. They are called choices. They always have consequences. Fact of life. Yes, it applies to the rich, famous, and elite among us too. Yes, it applies to teenagers. 15 year old girls know to keep their clothes on in public or in front of a camera. Those who choose to take it off, well, there's a consequence to the choice. ABC...Antecedent, Behavior, Consequence.
 
I definitely see your side but I am still struggling with why a photographer that asked a 15 yr old to undress and then took her picture is not facing some sort of ramification.
