He wants to unveil it on September 11, 2011. How's that for a start?
Sounds like a good sentiment for the day. A slap in the face to the extremists that try to hijack the religion.
Great. He ought to open it at 5th & 42nd
Or stick with the plan now.
They could build it pretty damn far away and morons would still bitch.
Somebody was watching The Daily Show last night...
no, it's the Governments system now, not the peoples.
The rule of law is only selectively enforced.
Offer Rejected to Move Mosque Away From Ground Zero to 'State Property'
IMO this pretty much removes any remaining doubts
that they want to build there as a Symbol, and not a good one.
It is a good symbol. Why should they have to move?
why wouldn't they want to?
Why would they want to? They already found a good spot.
They had another spot offered for free.
Sounds like pretty good incentive to me.
Seems like they have a good spot already.
The imam wouldn't even talk about it.
Sounds intolerant to me.
Sounds like they like their spot.
Got a link though?
I already posted it.
Not a good spot. Not by a long shot.
Sounds like they found a good spot and like it where it is. Good for them.
Are you just being intolerant?
yep, I'm very intolerant of people that want to exploit death and destruction.
These people aren't doing that.
That only Your perception.
Doesn't mean it's not true.
There was something on NPR this morning about them moving forward with their plan despite not getting the landmark status. The building isn't within sight of where the Twin Towers stood. I'm still not sure what the hubbub is despite that. I'm sure Christians will be trying to put up some remembrance whatnot for the tragedy also. I doubt there will be as much opposition when that happens. I find this a simple example of religious intolerance and I find it humorous that the opposition commentary comes from the same people that claim practicing Christians are discriminated against. LOL!
I would oppose tax payer money/land being given to any religious organization for this purpose. I'm happy they rejected the offer.
