Those who advocate high-speed rail are on crack

No Gonz it makes the point.

Commie-Libs use the interstate system as a lame arsed excuse
to built any silly assed shit they want.

Building the Dwight D. Eisenhower System of Interstate and Defense Highways
was about the last time the government did anything worthwhile.

High speed rail won't work on our current rail lines, and adding new lines to accommodate it would be cost prohibitive in today's economic reality. Add into that the constant political meddling to get stops in just about every city near the proposed line, and you'll see where this is headed. Same thing happened with Acela. I believe THAT was what Cat was talking about when he mentioned corruption. ;)

see i don't believe that was what cat was talking about, considering that he needed a third party to enumerate something sensible on his behalf.

yes, such a rail system would be a massive clusterfuck. but that has nothing to do with the banter here.

no that was indeed a part of it, but just part.
There's all kinds of corruption in the state run lines, just like with Marta here.
There's a reason it has never made a profit....not even close to breaking even.
All the 'freight lines' meanwhile seem to be doing well under private corps.

If anyone could show me solid numbers that HS-rail would not be another
hole to dump money into, I'd get down with it.

high-speed rail

Ayn Rand's "Atlas Shrugged" was meant to be a warning, not a user manual for big government.
