A Pierogi is a dumpling, usually filled with creamed potatoes, and is covered in butter and onions. I always thought it was Polish.

Perogies are meant to be eaten on their own.

Polish, ukrainian, russian.....it's a lot of us that eat them from the eastern parts.

They are called one of two things, varenyckyj or perogies. both are potato dumplings. It's potato with cheese stuffed in dough. varenyckyj's are boiled in salt water and perogies are fried in oil or butter and onions usually. you can usually serve them with sour cream or with a mushroom gravy.
