Valentine's day

What a pathetic charade it has turned into. Take my lover for granted for the whole year and then on one day prove to them my love.

I don't need a special day to celebrate love and appreciate my girlfriend. The whole damn year should be a Valentine's day for a true boyfriend/girlfriend.

marry me ....

It's not a joke, it's a way to get opinions and no i'm not single. In case you're not aware, I'm married to Paul_Valaru. :D

I was being facetious. Actually, as the wife, you have no pressure on Valentine's Day because guys don't care. If I didn't get my lovely wife something nice, well, as spot put it:
i can expect a cold front to move through for a couple of days.
:D

I know people can be demanding but ultimetly you have accept them for who they are, it is hard, yes, but easier then forcing them to change for you. I just find it sad that Valentine's day even has any merit and value to it besides it's intent (to celebrate the saint's b-day). Why does love have special value this day? If I loved anyone then everyday would be an amazing rush for me to be with them and while I know the luster gleams less over the years you still never forget the first time they came in to your life.

Call me jaded or unrealistic but if love is their and has semblence of hope of staying there then no day can contain the respect and admiration I will have for her.

To me it is another day. I'll kiss her the morning when she wakes up and watch her fall asleep in my arms at night on the 14th

.....the 15th, 16th, 17th and 18th and every other day that allows me to do such from there on.

OMG i agree with BCD. tho I like the romance idea Id rather not be complacent about my S.O. but it is nice to have a day for romance but I think everyday can be romantic.

BoP thanks but its allright. I wasnt much on celebrating it anyway.

Egads, no... Thats quite expensive. I don't have anything more than an 82 pass through my hands anymore. I paid good money for a 70s vintage once only to be crushed to discover that the cork was a total dud and that the contents had become utter crapola by the time it was opened. After that, I refused to obtain really old and $ vintages. I would just assume get my hands on some special 30 year Glenlivet or rarified super aged whiskey. At least then I can peer into the bottle and see that its ok.

(and I take back that I have never had valentines offerings before. Nalani has done me proud twice in that regard over the years.)

My mom always gives me and my bro little valentines too. Actually, my whole extended family on my moms side exchanges valentines (all my cousins)...little chocolates or something :)

I dont care if it is Christmas, Valentines day, Easter, whatever the holiday....I just like to decorate for the holidays and do not expect any gifts....we have always worried about giving to the little ones instead of each other. Whatever I want I get all year, no reason to get again because it is a holiday.

Right.

Valentines day is a wonderful, traditional celebration that just has been over-commercialised and blown way out of proportion, and made into something ridiculous.Like every holiday. It's flashy, Its showy, It's fake - It's a joke. Why should one day be used as an excuse to let you know someone you love them, just because 'hallmark' says you should - thats stupid. And getting wound over it if you don't 'get anything' is stupid too...

Ah listen to me, I'm sounding soooo -un-romantic - BUT to me, Valentines day has become extremely-unromantic.

I'm not an un-romantic person and do really believe that the a CONCEPT is beautiful, (and it wouldn't stop me from celebrating valentines anyway, just for the sake of it.:winkkiss:) But...Sharing my love and doing something anytime would mean just as much to me. Why should it be more acceptable or significant to declare it on Valentines day?

Any day of the year should the right time to share your love with someone -not because the shops say so- It doesn't make sense to me why it should hold so much significance. I don't think you should use Valentines day as a means to ascertain your love.
