American Space Exploration Program

Just returning the favor...

I think this is a great idea as well. Now, yes, there are some things that could use some more attention here at home, but throwing billions of dollars at them aren't going to fix those problems, rather just make the people more dependent on the government so when we do run out, they're even further fucked.

In case I wasn't clear, for the record, I'm not against space exploration. When caught in the right mood, I still want to be an astronaught. But I never did get to go to space camp. :(

I can't help it. I just don't think that any price is too high to pay for space exploration. Maybe it's the starry eyed kid in me, or the sci fi fanatic, or even the science geek, but I truly want us to be *out there*, exploring, learning, DOING. Just because we can, and just because it is inherently human to want to explore.

wow. you speak as if your words come from my own mouth. *bowing*

I think that it's about time that we took the next step. It's been a very long time since man walked on the moon. Since then, we've been tossing out the occasional satlite or probe, doing a bit of earth-orbit work etc...but nothing to really revive the world's dreams of going befond our own pale blue dot.

Establish a moon base if you want to...send the international space station on a little trip though...from earth orbit into mars orbit. Establish a schedule for people/scientists who want to spend a bit of time in Mars orbit, plus return trips.

Send probes to as many moons and planets as possible, send some probes to the asteroid belt, send some probes beyond out solar-system...get some pics back and put a gleam in the eyes of little children...

REVIVE THE DREAM!!!

oh yea...umh...kick alien ass!:alienhuh:

I'm all for space exploration, but shouldn't we look at our own planet first, like instead of sending 5 people to mars, maybe use the money to irrigate the deserts in africa, to feed the people, instead of a moon base, maybe cure cancer?

and if we do go to space, and find alien life.....and it's so radically diffrent from anything we have ever experienced...

what if they don't have asses to kick??!!??

makes you think

Pure research has always improved the quality of life. That's the main reason I think we should do it. They won't use the money to irrigate deserts or feed people or cure cancer, they'll spend it on frivolous bullshit. So, why not this frivolous bullshit.

My two cents.

well if it's that or more weapons research, I go with space
