Any feminists here?

Oh yeah, there isn't much better than a feminist lesbian orgy.

I'm a feminist. If she can carry that 80lb bag of cement from point A to point B 500 times a day, she deserves equal pay.

For the record-women are not paid less than men...it's a fabrication of the data. Women are far more likely to take time off than men so they have less time on the job. Those who have equal or greater time, by & large, get paid MORE than men. Ask the femi-nazi's to cover-up that little tidbit of unreported news. Oh, wait, they already do.

In my opinion everybody must be paid by what they produce. I know thye definition of production can be very subjective.
But if a woman does exactely the same thing as a man, she should get paid the same salary.
If she makes less hours, she gets less. That's how it works.

Or at least, that's how it should work.

i am all for equality and so is everyone in my fam so i was raised that way. so yes im a feminist.

I've always felt that women be treated equally. That means get rid of hiring quotas. Stop giving women jobs like flag-person at construction sites.

If women are equal to men (which I think they are in *most* cases), why is there still hiring quotas? Why not hire the best man/women for the job? Why does the army not conscript women either?

There are cases which women simply won't cut it though. An example would be a firefighter. You cannot relax the fitness test to allow women to pass. If they can, GREAT! But if they can't, that is their problem. The regulations are there for a reason! If a firefighter has to carry someone out he MUST have the strength to carry the body, his gear, and do whatever else is necessary to save lives. It is just the way nature built women and men. Men is naturally stronger. (no offense to any women here)

I agree with you LL. I am all for equal rights and everything but equal means that women should not receive special treatment either. If their is a physical test to get a job it should not be easier for a woman a fire is not going to be less hot for a woman firefighter and a criminal is not going to be less strong or run slower for a woman police officer.

Couldn't agree more with the two of you.

Sad to see that it often happens that woman get hired while their is also another, better person for the job. But he's a guy.
And that company has gotten orders to hire more woman.

That's not equal at all :mad2:

No shit!

OMG!

I don't know what to say....:(
Maybe....yes...! It's Shadowfax, not ShadowFax!!

*guns down LL :gun4:*

(sorry, had to come up with something, I wanted to use that smilie :D)

I once knew a woman who could tote that 80lb bag of cement from point A to point B 500 times a day. She worked for the stucco crew mixing stucco and hauling it from the mixer to the scaffolding in five-gallon buckets, two at a time. She was also on the women's rugby team at FSU.

She would've been pure hell to tangle with: all the strength of a man combined with a woman's complete lack of scruples in a fight. Ugh. :p

I wonder how many perfectly qualified women have been passed over for promotions which were given to men less qualified? Betcha won't see accurate statistics on that.
I imagine, if it weren't for the arrogant condescending male-chauvanists, (not all men....just the shitheads) there wouldn't need to be hiring quotas.

Hiring quotas has a potential to discriminate against men. As for that matter, you cannot have them.

It would be just as right to install hiring quotas as arresting all 18-year olds because they *might* potentially commit a crime such as smoking pot or exceeding the speed limit. In both cases you discriminate against people who is innocent.

That has to be one of the stupidest things I've ever read. Men, white men in particular, have dominated the job market for years and years and years. Hiring quotas would have never even been conceived had the playing field been level all along. Unfortunately, it still isn't.

However, since you have no experience in having to earn a living your argument doesn't hold much weight with me. Also, I find it seriously distressing that you made it all the way to college and can't manage to put together a grammatically correct sentence.

I just heard a report on the radio that women prison guards are complaining that they don't get any special training or equipment to help deal with male prisoners. BIG FUCKING DEAL!!! They wanted the job, they got it. Deal with it. Don't like that? Fine, quit, and let someone capable do the job.

And just to show I'm not a total chauvinist, I can type 50 words a minute. But can I get a job as an administrative assistant? No fucking way.

Q ~ I can understand his point. I have looked for a job when I was at school. I wanted a certain job, and so did a female classmate.
My grades were way higher, and I was a lot more capable for the job, because I manage to stay cool in highly stressful environments, and I have good managing capabilities. The girl didn't.

But that bitch got the job, and the people who hired her told me that they wanted to hire me, but that they couldn't, because the company was ordered to hire more woman.

Now, do you call that fair? I sure don't.

And please, don't start making those comment about spelling and grammar. I'm in College too, and I get a lot of English, but I still make some grammar faults too.

I agree with LastLegionary, Nixy and Shadowfax.

I know men have discriminated against women for, realistically speaking, eons. But I was no part of it and I'm all for equal rights. Emphasising equal rights, not "payback". If each sex can't be treated equally in the workplace, then there will always be resentment towards the other. Some of that resentment has reared its head here in Q's and Shadowfax's posts which are two fine examples of where the path to equality is still failing.

Looking at history, equality has come a long way in a short time (relatively speaking). It doesn't just apply to women either. Equality also applies to cultural and religious areas as well, which often suffer from similar hardships in the workplace.

It's a work in progress so to say, and hopefully in another decade at most, sexual discrimination in the workplace will be a thing of the past.

I agree, that the most qualified person should be hired for a job, whatever the job. I also think that there are some jobs out there that are just not suitable for the majority of women.
In the case of those prison guards, I'm curious if we're getting the whole story. I have to wonder if the men received traing and the women didn't...or the women applied to a position for a womens facility and got assigned to one for men. Whateven the reason, those women should get special training. All the guards should receive special training. It's a shitty job and the need for prison guards is NOT diminishing.
Now, back to the original thought.
LL is all worried that he might be discriminated against, for a job he hasn't even applied for yet, because some woman might get hired instead of him. It's a thinly veiled attempt at bashing women. I'm getting really sick of it. I've been in the construction industry since LL was in kindergarten. I can tell you discrimination does still exist. My work has to be exceptional or I get called on it.....because I'm a girl. This is not bullshit or paranoia, it's simply a fact. LL should spend more time studying english and less time worrying about the potential discrimination he might encounter.
....and for the record. I can tote an 80 pound bag of masonry from point A to point B....but if I had to tote 500 of them, I'd use a fork lift or a pallette jack. :p
