Bush approves nuclear response

make up your mind what language you speak

Americans are no better. You say your language is English but yet about 50% of your population speaks Spanish? Our official languages are English and French. Probably less than half of Alberta's population speaks French. :anibang:

I don't know where you visited at, but most americans do speak english. There are some areas, especially down south that are very spanish, but certainly no where near 50% that only speak spanish.

Our military is very sad, indeed. I hope our new Prime Minister (probably Paul Martin) gives that area a boost when he comes to power in early 2004.

Canada should at least be able to take on Jamaica and win! :anibang:

France would slaughter us...

good thing we have our aggressive militaristic American buddies to back us up, or rather... fight our wars for us.

Wow this thread could have gotten a bit ugly! Glad to see where all grown up about it!
Personally I think we should invade canada  and steal all their natural resources! J/K everyone! Goes back and watches the classic Canadian Bacon!! *peepwall*

On a serious note I am very distrubed by the put downs and flamings of the canadian public! It could be very bad for relations between the two countries!

Since you're new here, I'll clue you in...

sbcanada is very vocal about his views on the US. Especially if he feels that Canada has been insulted in some way. If you look a little deeper, you'll also notice that he, himself, started the Canada as 51st state joke.

I bet after the USA is done destroying Iraq and North Korea

Neither will be destroyed. One will be improved & the other left to wallow in it's self-misery until it decides to attack an ally.

Thanx Gato for the correction but I should have been more clear in the first place I was not upset by the posts in here! In fact I have great respect for most that state thier views! My thing is some of the forums and what ppl post attached to yahoo news reports! USA flamming has been running rampant lately although we may need to keep our noses out of some things overall I don't see us being this evil empire some ppl (like canadians that I'm seeing doing the majority of flamming on these articles) are making us look like!

Oh, I thought that was the UK, but it's not considered a j/k over here.

Personally I find it extremely disturbing that anyone would consider the use of nuclear weapons as a response to a non-nuclear threat. It's the first step on the way to Armageddon... in my opinion... I hope I'm wrong but I think my sister left the scene at just the right moment... :disgust2: God help us all.

Actually, it was the UK that threatened nuclear retaliation in the original 1990 Gulf war. Saddam threatened to use chemical/biological weapons, so your PM said that, if that occured, Baghdad would be a glowing crater. Worked for most of the war, too. The allied bombing of all of his communications took care of the last part of the war, when he was up against the wall. ;)

The UK has a right to say that, IMO. They could actually be hit by this guys biological/chemical weapons.

a first step to armageddon would be the use of nuclear weapons after a nuclear thread...that country could retaliate with a nuclear counter strike...and so forth...
in the case of iraq, IF it would come this far (which i doubt, and strongly hope won't happen) then it would most certainly end there. saddam wouldn't be able to retaliate after a nuclear attack. it doesn't have that much power.
the muslim community though...hmmm...

I find it absolutely disturbing as well, even the suggestion of such a policy exposes the U.S. (and to be fair, the U.K. also) for the internetional bullies they are.
Aunty, don't think your sister dipped outta here at a good time though, when you take a resigned attitude like that, you've given your tacit approval for anything our respective administrations may choose to do.
Never give in, on a long enough timeline, things always end up for the better...

Well, tommyj, it basically boils down to this. Chemical and Biological weapons are just as deadly as nuclear nowadays...and Biological agents last longer, are much cheaper, on the whole, and can spread outside of their respective strike zones a hell of a lot easier. Not that I'm condoning nuclear warfare, but how would you suggest defending against biological attacks? Hope you have a mask that lasts a lifetime? Chemical munitions are easier to recover from...provided you don't stay in the area, or play with it after it's been sprayed in your zone.
