OK...so, if I HAVE to be bombarded with Christmas tunes wherever I bloody well go...can't they at least make it the better of the versions??!?

Got a favorite(s)?

I like the 'bells song' by the Trans-siberian orchestra (plus Metallica)

David Bowie and Bing Crosbie's "Little Drummer Boy"

I love some of the jazzy versions that came from the "Charlie Brown Christmas" - thanks to Schultz's love of jazz

Vince Guaraldi rocks!

Please Come Home For Christmas by The Eagles.
Merry Christmas From The Family by Robert Earl Keene.

Being a former radio announcer, I abhor Christmas music...especially after having to listen to it for six hours a day. I do have three instrumental bluegrass Christmas CDs for Christmas morning festivities.

I refuse to acknowledge xmas until December 25th... Me and the BF have both agreed that we're not buying each other xmas pressies this year. :headbang:

i like "fuck christmas" by FEAR.

Don't despair,
just because it's Christmas.
Children, they're
all so gay at Christmas.
All the children on the street
hope they get something good to eat.
But for me it's not so great.
Fuck Christmas! <i>[x10]

it's just ridiculous, lol. you listen to it and you're like, "wtf? that's silly".

i also like "merry christmas, i dont want to fight tonight" by the ramones, "river", by joni mitchell, and several others, that i will post as i remember them!

mistress for Christmas - AC/DC

I like Charlie Daniels too though. I'm thinking of getting one of his CDs this year.

"I want a hippopotamus for christmas" by I dunno who...

"Daddy looks a lot like Santa" by Garth Brooks

Santa looked a lot like Daddy, or Daddy looked a lot like him.
Well they thought that I was fast asleepin, they thought that I was tucked in bed, they never figured I'd come a peepin', or that I'd hear what was said.
Santa put his arm around momma, momma put her arm around him.
So, if Santa Clause ain't daddy, well then I'ma gonna tell on them.
Well, Santa looked a lot like daddy, or daddy looked a lot like him.
It's not the way I had him pictured, Santa was much to thin.
He didn't come down the chimney, so momma musta let him in.

It was December 24th on Hollis Ave in the dark
When I see a man chilling with his dog in the park
I approached very slowly with my heart full of fear
Looked at his dog oh my God an ill reindeer
But then I was illin because the man had a beard
And a bag full of goodies 12 o'clock had neared
So I turned my head a second and the man had gone
But he left his driver's wallet smack dead on the lawn
I picket the wallet up then I took a pause
Took out the license and it cold said "Santa Claus"
A million dollars in it, cold hundreds of G's
Enough to buy a boat and matching car with ease
But I'd never steal from Santa, cause that ain't right
So I'm going home to mail it back to him that night
But when I got home I bugged, cause under the tree
Was a letter from Santa and all the dough was for me

It's Christmas time in Hollis Queens
Mom's cooking chicken and collard greens
Rice and stuffing, macaroni and cheese
And Santa put gifts under Christmas trees
Decorate the house with lights at night
Snow's on the ground, snow white so bright
In the fireplace is the yule log
Beneath the mistle toe as we drink egg nog
The rhymes you hear are the rhymes of Darryl's
But each and every year we bust Chrsitmas carrols

Rhymes so loud and prod you hear it
It's Christmas time and we got the spirit
Jack Frost chillin, the ?orchas out?
And that's what Christmas is all about
The time is now, the place is here
And the whole wide world is filled with cheer

My name's D.M.C. with the mic in my hand
And I'm chilling and coolin just like a snowman
So open your eyes, lend us an ear
We want to say Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

walkin' home from our house Christmas eve,
you can say there's no such thing as Santa...
but as for me and grandpa, we believe.

and Vienna Boy's Choir - Gloria in Excelsis Deo among others, and Mannheim Steamroller - Carol of the Bells among others, and for something a little different, the Pogues - Irish Christmas Song

Fairytale of New York by The Pogues and Kirsty McCall. The song is being re-released this year to raise awareness for the "Justice for Kirsty" campaign. She was killed 5 years ago in Mexico, in December 2000, and her family believe the Mexican authorities are protecting her killer.

Saw them last year on the 23rd of December. They're playing again this year and there is a debate raging inside of me whether to go again.
