They (the banana spiders) really aren't all that bad. As long as you know they are there. I much prefer those to the "palmetto bug" aka gigantic FLYING cockroach. And yeah, I'm sure I'm not in New Zealand - they've got sheep and cattle, not spiders

I have heard of spiders in Australia that are supposed to be quite venomous and like to hide in people's shoes. Can any one here confirm or deny?

ARGH! That only reminds me of Arachnaphobia! I watched that movie alone when I was 11 and have been terrified for spiders ever since!
