:crying4: That was possibly one of the saddest stories I've read in a very long time but it is soo true these days! With the abandonment of animals at an all time high and euthenasia (sp?) being the only way to make enough room for the incomming animals its a very sad situation they face!
 
I've only had to have one pet put down...and I had to put down one pet myself. In the first case, it was because it got violent, in the second because it got horribly mangled and there was nothing that I, or anyone else could do.

There are rays of hope in the world of SPCA...the one that runs a chunk of the South Shore of Montreal has a no-kill policy. They will keep the animal until it gets a new home.

Thanks for bringing up a hard but tough topic though...but remind me to hold you down when Prof shows up with a dirty-stick.
 
I've experienced having to have a dog put down. :( It was one of my saddest memories as a wee child. Most recently my dog Sam had to be put down. "the family" didn't think it could wait a month before I could visit, nor did they think I could handle it. So I missed Sam's passing. :(

Me too PT it is hard enough to have to put it down because of sickness and quite another to see it's mangled body and have to administer death yourself to save it from suffering!

Why? because I do not shed tears at a sentimental dribble about a dog dying? Boo-hoo...she died...millions of dogs do, millions of humans die....millions upon millions die every year from every species.

So why feel bad at passing of life. We fuck up the species by domesticating them and then feel horrendous at what their fate becomes.

Yeah..so call me an asshole, its ok.
