The secret to that is not aiming at your feet.

difficult to be sure of it if you're walking(your feet and hands move). Unless you keep it down on a diagonal line holding it with both hands, but then again it easier to hit someone else walking close to you. hell I don't know. Thank God I don't have to do it...

You do walk with it across your body with the muzzle pointed at an angle towards the ground... all of to one side. 99% of the time, hunting parties will travel in single file. That will mean that a weapon pointed slightly to one side won't endanger anyone.
