i got drunk and had to tyrpe this twice

My day was wierd. Work was dead and my Mom's in town, so I took the afternoon off. I was going to take Mom and the family to Fernbank.

However, Mom had a doc's appt in the early morning, and they turned up something suspicious. So, Fernbank morphed into a trip to a soecialist to do a sonigram. Nothing there, thank God.

there is some documentary about the origins of flight on PBS and i have decided the OTC is more entertaining. so what's the highpoint of your day?

Should've gone to the other PBS channel (30). They had a special about an attempt to identify several sets of remains from the Titanic in Halifax. It was pretty good.

Wait a minute. I've avoided chemicals my entire adult life. I bought some topsoil from Menards & it introduced some wildly exotic weeds into my garden. I've spent two years hoeing, pulling, mulching & covering only to have them come back, stronger than ever. They overtook my garden last year. If you wannt volunteer to stop by a couple of times a week to keep them in check...be my guest. I'm out of ideas & life can be made better thru science. :p
Hey listen, I do it with my own garden, chemical free. There's no excuse you can give me that's good enough, it's just laziness and irresponsible.

I know people who actually bake their soil before they use it. Kills all the weed seeds but smells horrible. I've heard of things like boiling water poured into the soil, vinegar as a natural herbicide, etc. There are more natural ways, that are better than spraying harmful chemicals into the air and ground. Just takes a little bit of effort, which is something real gardeners aren't afraid of putting in to their garden. :p

DOn't buy that crap matting to cover your garden. Most weeds' stick through them... go to a "Home Depot' or "Rona" kinda place...what you want in rolls of black vapour barrier... looks kinda like the plastic they make garbage bags out of but thicker... roll them over your garden, cover the edging with soil/rocks to keep it down in gusts of wind and let'er go. The materials too tough for weeds to grow through, it's too opaque for sun to get to the seeds, keeps the soil moist and warm and is harmless.

Believe me...I use it yearly though I poke holes in it to plant my veggies. What few weeds come out through the holes for the plants get picked very easily. :D

Tried many times. The weeds are still there.

I know the stuff. Kinda makes watering a problem, especially in this clay I have. Oh, & it stinks underneath too.
