Casper, Wyoming) Anti-gay preacher Fred Phelps has announced intentions to erect a monument to Matthew Shepard the gay college student brutally murdered five years ago near Laramie. But, the monument will be no memorial. Phelps says the monument would be 5 to 6 feet tall and made of marble or granite. It would bear a bronze plaque bearing the image of Shepard and have an inscription reading "MATTHEW SHEPARD, Entered Hell October 12, 1998, in Defiance of God's Warning: 'Thou shalt not lie with mankind as with womankind; it is abomination.' Leviticus 18:22."
The monument would be erected in downtown Casper, Shepard's home town.

Don't mind the source...it's the best link to the story that I found.

I have an idea. Let's take all the religious nuts & put them on an island, fully stocked with food, fresh water & knives, very, very sharp knives. Christian, Muslim, Jew, etc. The winner gets a free trip to Leavenworth with all the food he can eat & exercise equipment he can handle. Forever.

erect some granite statue of the lad with an acompanying 6ft bronze plaque of quotes from the bible about tolerance, brotherhood and loving all of gods creation. floodlight it and stick it outside the twat's house.

I don't think you can emphasis the importance of the floodlights enough. These must be pointed directly into his damned bedroom. And while we're at it, why not add some strobe lights, and some nifty little bible quote to be parroted really loudly over a dolby system? :devious: Or we could just put a statuette of some gays fucking right outside his yard....

Perhaps it should be destroyed right after it's put up...and the chips and chunks or rock thrown liberally at the windows of this schmuck's house....then again, a nice bonfire is always cheerful.

Ooh...a big ol statue of this rector butt-fucking a sheep while wielding a bible like a whip. He could be wearing women's underwear and high heels. Airbrushed lipstick and blush.

THEN...add the strobe lights and spotlights

So much for the American Right to free Speech.

Let me highlight this man's opinions for you and make it personal just to strike a point with ya Prof.

He believes that all people who got AIDS, regarldess of why, will go to Hell because they have sinned,
so (God Forbid that this ever happens)...let's say that Prof v.1 has a bad blood transmission and gets AIDS...this is the kind of man that would, after her death, put up a statue in downtown St.Hubert in her image, with a plaque saying that she's entered Hell on such-and-such a date.

How'd you feel about his "Freedom of Speach" then?

This isn't freedom of speech....it isn't speech, it's inflamitory, disrespectful and hateful.

He's a homophobe Bish. Where do you get the AIDS info? That's not what I read.

There's a whole whack about him on the net....much more than you could ever imagine.

Here's an excerpt
"The death penalty was violently carried out by God on a massive scale when the biblical cities of Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed by fire and brimstone," says Phelps. "I am inclined to the view that the closer man's laws come to God's laws, the better off our race will be."

Phelps has found the national spotlight by disrupting the mourners' grieving at the funerals of AIDS victims. His followers carry picket signs outside the services with such stone-hearted messages as GOD HATES FAGS and FAGS 3DDEATH.

he gives Christians a bad name. isnt he supposed to try to "save" them? Bish he does have a right to say it but its disrespectful for him to build the monument

Sure...he has the right to say it. He also has the right to put up a website called godhatesgays.com but where does his rights end and other people's rights begin. Where do they clash?

Exactly when does his right to free speach become inflamitory and hate-mongering? When does it become a hate-crime? How many people must suffer for his rights?

Why exactly is America so weak that it cannot afford to properly define it's "Right to free speach" enough to stop people like this?

Try to take my gun away and you will pay the ultimate price.
Try to stifle my newspapers and gag my radio announcers and be brought down in flames.
Try to deny my worship of God and be damned by God and man alike.

BUT

Try to stop a hateful man and his band of zealots from verbally attacking and libeling others, from posting their violent propoganda, from inciting violence and what do you get? Medals? Honours?

no...you get hated for daring to touch the most honoured right of all...Freedom of Speech.

I pity the innocent...Satan lives and wears Baptist robes.

the problem my friend lies in the fact that he does have a right to say it. people have a right to say things potentially offensive. its things like slander that is illegal(and even then its kind of a slippery slope cause right to speech but insulting someone) it sucks i know but he has a right. although the monument is an endorcment of religion isnt it? so more than likely the ACLU will step in
