It was only a matter of time

The Gideons are. And the University is facilitating that. If the kids don't want it, why should they be forced to have it?

As opposed to cramming "diversity" down everyone's throat, which means I may be required to take courses teaching me how to appreciate viewpoints which may offend me. Cramming it down someone's throat is apparently bad only if done in certain ways.

Someone needs to cram it, alright.

Which point of view to the exclusion of the other? Do you not see the double standard, or are you not willing to acknowledge it?

or do like I do and don't try and cram myths and lies down everybody else's throat at every opportunity.

But you see, while you might consider the Bible to be myths and lies, I consider the Big Bang and the denial of Creationism the same. So do your views supercede mine?

There's that double standard.

Hell, I'm agnostic. Why do you have to believe in one or the other to be taken seriously? I'm being repressed! :D

I think it's the right thing to do. Although I would probably just shove it aside or put it up on the top shelf of the closet while I stayed there, I don't see a purpose to put bibles in every room. Nor do I see any reason to ban bibles from being put there. I don't think anyones hands are going to be burned by tossing it up on a shelf during their duration. I guess I basically just don't give a fuck either way, if the gideons want to put thier money in bibles, let them.

I think that what they're saying is the school currently puts bibles in all rooms...and they wanna take them OUT of the rooms but still have them available for anyone who wants to use them...I don't get the impression that the students are banned from bringing their own...

I got the impression that students were the ones who couldn't bring their own bibles. Hence my 'decadence' comment, it is pointless to say why now, but I'll do it anyway: many countries are becoming decadent because they are enforcing or creating laws that avoids people to become offended by something, just to make them feel more comfortable; the problem with these rules/laws is that you can never have a society free of 'offended people' and IMO with these laws you are only creating more and different types of offended people. It is coming to a point that is just silly and decadent.

Now if a guy calls another nigger, you could spend up to 3 years in jail, this is just ridiculous (search for Leandro Desabato, who called nigger a brazilian player).

In the end, the enforcement of not offended people and of everybody's freedom will lead to more offended people and less freedom.

I don't see where we disagree, so why were you saying something was wrong with my position, again? Or were you not?

If you don't want a Gideon Bible, placed free of charge, in your room...walk that motherfucker over to the trashcan & toss it in. There. Problem solved.

I was not, I was saying that the society is in decadence (I should have quoted the first post thou).

Seems rather wasteful. Hey, here's an idea. Why don't we let the students (you know, the folks that actually live in the dorm) decide. :lloyd:

Because it's so much more entertaining to watch idiotic liberals get their panties in a bunch over something so stupid.

Students at a university in Scotland have voted to ban the Bible from residence halls because its presence might make non-Christian uncomfortable, according to The Scotsman.

Stirling University Students' Association wants to remove up to 6,000 copies of the Gideon Bible from more than 2,000 dorm rooms.

Sorry to burst your bubble Gonz.

that makes things a bit different. If they voted that they dont want the Bibles in the room then why have the Bibles there? And those that want them there should be allowed to have them
