Powell claims to be Republican. Yet damn near every public stance he's taken (very few of them) have been quite liberal.

The key to his long drawn out explanation can be summed it in one sentence...
"I would have difficulty with two more conservative appointments to the Supreme Court, but that's what we'd be looking at in a McCain administration," Powell said

he's far from the right, regardless of party.

Source? or did you just make that up?

The key to his long drawn out explanation can be summed it in one sentence...

"I think he would be a transformational president. For that reason I will be voting for Senator Barack Obama,"

he's far from the right, regardless of party.

He's far from left.

Source? How wabout him.

What does "transitional" mean, in this context? Wouldn't Gov Palin also be a transitional figure?

He's not a socialist. He's just a good old fashioned Democrat.

Yeah sure, let's see a full list of liberal vs. conservative stances from him.

What does "transitional" mean, in this context? Wouldn't Gov Palin also be a transitional figure?

The word is "transformational" and Palin wouldn't be transformational.

He's not a socialist. He's just a good old fashioned Democrat.

Seems like more of a good old fashion republican without the fascism or religious fanatism.

He actually spoke at depth on his reasons for supporting Obama if you want to read the whole thing.

he just throws you off because he's shown an ability and willingness to think beyond purely ideological positions.

Without ideology we'd be sheep, or a parrot.

Time to take off the blindfold, dude. I`ve been calling this one for over a decade, haven`t you heard me. 85% of the human race is fodder for the wolf.

No, the problem is Rush is a moron and a hack. Powell has reached across the aisle and put country first and all the right can do is call him a racist.

And I was so close to agreeing with you, too. Anyone who believes that any modern politician puts anything but himself first .... *shakes head*. Maybe a close second, but never first.

I'm not sure your percentage isn't a touch low there. :D

You're are 100% correct but Powell's not a politician. One of the reasons I think he'd make a good candidate but he won't run.
