As for the Star-Spangled Banner... I've heard it sung before many high school sports events in my line of work, and twice I've heard it sung like this:
Oh say can you see by the dawn's early light
What so proudly we hail at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad strips & bright stars, through the perilous fight,
What so proudly we hail at the twilight's last gleaming?
And the rockets red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
Oh say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?
I'd be interested to know what percentage of people know that there isn't just the one verse to that song.
