Since the data is incomplete, I don't think there are any conclusions on this subject you can draw with certainty.

A "No" vote means "Davis should not be recalled" which means "out of all these candidates my first choice is to keep Davis" which equals a vote for Davis as far as I can tell.
See... that's just an assumption I don't think is warranted. You just said that you were an example of why not. My major problem is equating:

"Davis should not be recalled" with "out of all these candidates my first choice is to keep Davis." I think the two are not as causally linked as you are assuming. They are two separate issues, and though there is certainly a correlation between the two, you can't assume to what degree that correlation holds without more data.
 
Davis tried to get his name on the ballot with the replacement candidates, and couldn't. If he could have had it on there, he would have.
