Religious intolerance...

How is telling people that they cannot pray any different than telling people that they MUST pray?

IMO prayer is something you do at home or in Churches...if you do it elsewhere and institutionalize it (Everyone doing it at the same time and lead by religious leaders - which is the case here) you're effectivly taking a mundane place such as a mess hall, and you're turning it into a quasi church..and picking the religion favoured in that church.

There sure isn't any reason to be doing it in groups at work during meetings. I don't care what you do on your own time but start praying to Satan or Cthulu or Thor or Allah or Buddha or Christian God in groups at work meeting I'm required to go to and things have gotten inappropriate.

There's a hole in your education. Prayer limited is lipservice, nothing more. A whole Christian lives his prayers every minute or every day. People who's religious live begins and ends at the church door are as false as a clerk who short changes a client, pockets the difference, and feels good because that guy was an asshole, and she's not stealing from her boss.

If there's time set aside for it, feel free to go get a coffee or smoke a cig while they're at it.

Sure, I'd expect all the christians would just go have a coffee an not say a thing if there were work sponsored satan worshiping sessions.

So...there's really no need for a pastor (or three) to be there, nor for anyone else to be there for a Whole Christian to pray, right? No special occasions like...before a meal, f'r instance...hmmm - found that hole you mentioned.

t'isn't like it's the Easter meal...of the Christmas meal.

You do know that the word Rabbi doesn't mean priest, doncha? It means teacher. I've attended church with no priest in attendance. Just a layperson to read the scripture and lead the hymns.

Ditto  and.
Still doesn't explain why there needs to be a special prayer before meals, out loud and lead by anyone. Kinda like prayers in schools after first bell.

If you want to pray..pray. If you don't, don't...but this is institutionalized...and that's the whole point.

It's not institutionalised. It's led. It's led, because the people praying want it that way. They're more comfortable that way. Is leading it required? no. Is moaning and whining about it required? no. Is joining in required? no.

Skip out on the satan worshiping sessions?
What no way and miss the teenage virgin sacrifice?
Not on your life Buddy, I'm all about that!
I’m all over it, I’m into it! Bring on the virgin!

Once again, its not mandatory, so you can't use that straw man. And you still haven't actually answered the question. How is this different?

So if the majority want to have a chaplain lead them in prayer, then thats too bad?

taps still gives me chills

The beginning of every school day
first thru sixth grade
we faced the flag with our hands over our hearts
and while the national anthem played
we sang the star spangled banner
and then said the pledge of allegiance
yes the one with Gawd innit.

I’m a better American fer it I tells ya!
