LL needs to lighten up on the drug thing, I think. Possibly even accept that some people might think differently than Him.

Also, LL...um, not wanting to be in this debate but...England doesn't use Euros...

*runs away screaming*

I don't recall saying that Great Britain uses Euros.

>You get issued a European passport, and use the euro<

The UK is part of Europe. You said Europe uses Euros. But we don't.

Anyway, who gives a flying.
And that dope thing was a joke BTW.

I don't recall saying Europe uses euros.

I quoted you there. You said 'and uses the euro'.
But, okay, it doesn't really matter. I see the point you make :)

Sure Germany is different from France, but they have the same basic socialistic principles. That isn't what I'm interested in. Beh, I should have stated my poll my clearer.

Oh, you wanted to know how many non-socialist countries I've been in?? That's easy: 0. :p

rofl I'm going to take it one bit further... Check the antecedent.

Argad, rofl...

OK What I mean is telling me you visited Scotland and England is, well, 2 countries but it doesn't have the same effect as saying you've been to England and China. Therefore I tried to group the EU up because they are very, very similar. Ah well, seems I fubared this up properly. :D

geez :disgust2:, these guys always want to say that continents are countries........they did it first with America, and now Europe, is Asia the next one?

:p

Scotland and Europe are both Great Britain. That can count as one country but saying that every country in Europe is suddenly one country is stupid! To get into some of the countries, like Germany, (if you're a Canadian Citizen) you not only need a passport but you need a Visa issued by the government (even if you're going to be in the country for 5 min). It seems like you're saying that since anyone from anywhere in Europe can travel all over Europe with their European passprt it shodul be one country but you can travel between Canada and the states without even having a passport (if you are a citizen of one or the other) and they are DEFINATELY NOT one country. Also, the states all have one federal government. The countries in Europe do not share a gov't.

I have been to the U.S. and I live in Canada...

I have been to/through about 6-8 states though, on my way to California, Arizona, Nevada. :D

NATO does not issue a passport to its civilians for international travel.

Neither does the EU.

Each country issues its own passports to its own citizens.

The holder of an Irish passport can't be deemed a citizen of Greece, for example. Or vice versa.

The EU is an association of countries, a cooperation in economic, financial and political terms. It ain't a national entity in its own right! If it was, we wouldn't have separate embassies, for example, and citizenship and nationality laws wouldn't exist. Passport control would be a whole different kettle of fish, and don't get me started on visas...

Excuse me, a friend of mine has dual citizenship with Canada and England. He has a passport and on the front of it says:

European Union Passport

Which, as far as I understand, means only that he is entitled, as a citzen of the UK, to travel freely through the EU, live, work in most of the countries, with the one passport, without need for visas, etc. It's for convenience.
