Spin the bottle/Dare Game/Sexting

Which is why I maintain that elections by the Sheeple are pointless. Far better to have an educated upper class to lead and manage the country to everyone's mutual benefit than to hold a popularity contest voted upon by millions without a whit of wit. Hence returning to situations where landowners, and not farmhands, decide what crops will best serve the land and let it last generations as opposed to those whos past decisions have led them and their family nowhere.

That is pure gold, no wait more akin to platinum!

"One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws."

Mmm Tastey!

Everyone's mutual benefit? that's laughable. Much like the rich, the only benefit that the upper-class is interested in, is their own...all supported through an accident of birth. Born poor, stay poor, have poor kids, and poor grandkids ad infinitum.

Let them eat cake. :bluegrab:

Accident of birth is the common cry of those who didn't benefit from the accident that was their own birth. Read a little history. Poor people either pull themselves up by their own bootstraps, or wallow in the gutter whining. Rich folk, unlike the poor, have to deal with equally rich and equally successful competition to stay rich. Failure to be successful mean failure to stay rich.

The poor who stay poor do so through every fault of their own. Take a good long look at America and Canada today. Where do most tax refund cheques wind up? Spent on 46" tvs this year. Last year, it was the Wii. I personally hoard mine to pay for the family vacations. Welfare now has an adjustment to allow for families to pay for cable TV and internet ... hardly the necessities of life.

Contrary to Bishy's dearly held socialist/commie beliefs,
in a Laissez-faire environment the rich will indeed operate
to their own maximum benefit, which only incidentally
benefit the other classes. If a business is to thrive
it must provide a product and or service and be profitable.

Fuckin' over the customer only gets ya so far, Sonny.

The stewardship of wealth is best left to those capable
of such duties and that sure as hell ain't the politicians!!!

Osama and the Unions, run GM Hah!!!

If you don't own the bootstraps,or the land, or the house or the fruits of your labour, you can yank to your heart's content, but the only people you'll be lifting out of the mud are your 'betters'.

The 'poor who stay poor through their own fault' is a capitalist ideology...but you sound like you're pushing for a caste system with only the upper castes having access to education, land and most importantly power..over the betterment of all.

sad really sad but if that delusion “works” fer ya
keep on using it?

Teach it to your children.

I hate that argument that poor people don't have a chance to get an education. Sure they do. It's called the public school system. And college? It's called scholarships. The only people who pay sticker price are wealthy AND stupid. If you're poor, they give you money. If you're smart, they give you money. If you're a minority, then double whatever money you have already gotten for being smart and poor.

Graduate in the top 10% of your high school, do well on your SATs, and take a few Advanced Placement classes, apply to a few state colleges that aren't that great, and they'll throw money at you.

... or if your parents are well off so you don't qualify for assistance, but at the same time you ain't taking their money. i paid sticker price for undergrad, mostly by myself. guess how far my sympathies run.

fortunately, my grad degrees were funded...

Well, if their parents are well off, then they're not poor. Which is what I was talking about.

How many nationas have tried how many ideals to stop the poor from being poor. How many worked?

Work harder than the next guy or get passed over. Beats the shit out of we all work poorly together.

as opposed to the poor, who are concerned about everyone i guess

grow up. everybody wants their own pot to be the one collecting coins. rich, poor, middle and all shades in between. you have no argument on the theory of the gallant poor

Well if Jesus said:
the poor will always be with us
I say:
Kill them!

Hell being poor in this country just means you can't afford a summer home in the Hamptons

C'Mon Bishster how many, other than them native folks
(which are savages one step from Igloos anyway)
die of starvation in Kanada everyday?

That argument works in a capitalist/democratic context. Try that one in China or India and see how far it'll getcha.

higher education in india is HEAVILY subsidized, and, at least in technical fields, pretty stinking good.

... and don't ever confuse capitalism with democracy. it's historical accident that the two have sorta coincided in north america over the past couple hundred years.

and I suppose it's a twist of fate that we have risen to the top under those principals?
