the light in the sky

i'm wondering what it is i've seen lately, i'm guessing it's a planet because it's so bright. it's in the southwest sky (~230d) for me. anyone know what's bright this time of year?

yep, that's what makes it jump out at me, otherwise i'm not generally that observant.

Been looking up Jupiter stuff online. Its going to be closest in the first week of March. Thank Godzo... 'cause its been pure cloudlock for 10 days here. I can't see the darn thing.

after finding some sky maps, i concur that it was god on a harley, or Mars

Was it red or white? Out in the open or near the horizon? visible only right after dusk? ...

white, at about 45d altitude, venus was in the general area about that time too, but much lower on the horizon.

mars has always looked more white than red to me, even when it was really bright last summer

You were probably seeing venus... or youve taken one to many to the head, cause its really really reaaaaaally red.
