the light in the sky

i'm wondering what it is i've seen lately, i'm guessing it's a planet because it's so bright. it's in the southwest sky (~230d) for me. anyone know what's bright this time of year?

I think Jupiter is making a pass out there. It looks like a bright star. Is it noticible because it seems to be the only star when the rest are hiding?

yep, that's what makes it jump out at me, otherwise i'm not generally that observant.

Been looking up Jupiter stuff online. Its going to be closest in the first week of March. Thank Godzo... 'cause its been pure cloudlock for 10 days here. I can't see the darn thing.

white, at about 45d altitude, venus was in the general area about that time too, but much lower on the horizon.
