The place where I work is having it's annual book sale... it's about 1 week away, so the books (Donated) are coming in, in droves. As donated books...most of them are crap, but I managed to pre-buy a foursome of books by Michael Moorcock (The Elric Saga) - never hear of it, but it's practically free. :)

Aah...more books to add to my 'to be read' pile in my library. :D

You're obviously a stranger to fantasy fiction then Bishop.

They are brilliant (but there are a lot more than four in the saga, hopefully you've got the first 4).........both as standard sword and sorcery tales......and as a demonstration of writing while under the influence of halucinogenic narctics :nuts:

Elric is a magnificent charater (and his sword ain't bad either) :D

Currently reading: H by Chritiane E (biography of a teenage heroin addict and prostitute in 1970's Berlin.......it's heartbreaking :eh: )

I've read most of the eternal champion series, but I'm missing erekose, and the book titled the eternal champion....and the hawkmoons

I have ALL elric (even dreamcatchers daughter wihich is a von bek/Elric crossover and all the Corum books

I just finished the last book in the otherland series. Very good read. All loose ends nicely tied up. :swing: Now I'm reading the first book in the Belgariad series by David Eddings. Figured it was about time to give 'em a go.

i got hooked on it within 5 pages. only about 60 pages into it and so far so good.

The Hawkmoons are worth spending time on Paul........tis a damn good tale (and not quite as dark as Elric) :swing:
 
Just finished two Stephen King books, From a Buick 8, excellent.

Rose Madder. Wow.
 
Wee Free Men by Terry Pratchett.

Just about to start it now........well, as soon as the coffee is brewed anyway...
 
The Wee Free Men was hilarious :D Only Pratchett could write a book for young teens and make it universally funny :)

Two new books to start tonight........

A Hat Full of Sky ....... the follow on for Wee Free Men :D

The DaVinci Code by Dan Brown.....heard really good things about this book, can't wait to get me teeth into it :swing:
 
Man, is there only me borin' enough to spam about books? :p

Hatfull of Sky was great.....funny but with some nice life-philosophy thrown in :)

The Da Vinci Code was good.......a bit of a no-brainer (typical thriller formula, read ten pages and find out yer figured out the puzzles anyway) but well written, if the characters were a lil' 2 dimensional.

Startin' Bernard Cornwell's Stonehenge today.....loved his Warlord trilogy (his take on the legend of King Arther et al) and the Sharps books were ok(ish)......so it should be a good tale :swing:
 
attacking a pile of long ignored magazines I'm supposed to be reading for work (Artforum, Art in America, Flash Art)....

also reading Encounters & Reflections: Art in the Historical Present by Arthur C. Danto

and when the jargon becomes too much, dipping into Selected Poems by WH Auden
 
sooooooo I just spent the last couple of days engrossed by Ludlum's The Prometheus Deception.

It was um...engrossing...the character having lived a fraud of a life drew me in and then I couldn't put it down. Some thumbs up.
