HUSAYBAH, Iraq -- Extra body armor _ the lack of which caused a political storm in the United States _ has flooded in to Iraq, but many Marines here promptly stuck it in lockers or under bunks. Too heavy and cumbersome, many say.

Evidently they're graduates of the same fighting school I attended. Where they teach you that the best way to survive getting hit .... is to move quick enough to not get hit at all.

Some want it so much that they've bought the armor with their own money.

It should at least be available to those who want it.

SAS soldier quits Army in disgust at 'illegal' American tactics in Iraq

He said he had witnessed "dozens of illegal acts" by US troops, claiming they viewed all Iraqis as "untermenschen" - the Nazi term for races regarded as sub-human.

...

Mr Griffin, 28, who spent two years with the SAS, said the American military's "gung-ho and trigger happy mentality" and tactics had completely undermined any chance of winning the hearts and minds of the Iraqi population. He added that many innocent civilians were arrested in night-time raids and interrogated by American soldiers, imprisoned in the notorious Abu Ghraib prison, or handed over to the Iraqi authorities and "most probably" tortured

Mr Griffin eventually told SAS commanders at Hereford that he could not take part in a war which he regarded as "illegal".

He added that he now believed that the Prime Minister and the Government had repeatedly "lied" over the war's conduct.

"I did not join the British Army to conduct American foreign policy," he said. He expected to be labelled a coward and to face a court martial and imprisonment after making what "the most difficult decision of my life" last March.

Instead, he was discharged with a testimonial describing him as a "balanced, honest, loyal and determined individual who possesses the strength of character to have the courage of his convictions".

Last night Patrick Mercer, the shadow minister for homeland security, said: "Trooper Griffin is a highly experienced soldier. This makes his decision particularly disturbing and his views and opinions must be listened to by the Government."

HOly crap, that sounds just like WW2. Well, in all fairness, they couldn't afford it in WW2 so they just improvised, adapted, overcame.

You've gone from non-stop Bush bashing to 70% Bush bashing and added bashing the men & women of the military.

I thought the whole "echo" type follow up ended in 2nd grade. Congratulations...you've grown.

I'm not bashing the troops at all. You must be a little confused.

Running away when you're wrong should have ended in the 2nd grade but you still haven't outgrown that. If you can't defend your point refrain from typing.

Little Mary-Margaret was not the best student in Catholic School.
Usually, she slept through the class. One day her teacher, a Nun,
called on her while she was sleeping.

"Tell me Mary Margaret, who created the universe?"

When Mary Margaret didn't stir, little Johnny who was her friend
sitting behind her, took his pencil and jabbed her in the rear.

"God Almighty!" shouted Mary Margaret.

The Nun said, "Very good" and continued teaching her class.

A little later the nun asked Mary Margaret, Who is our Lord and
savior?" But she didn't stir from her slumber.

Once again, little Johnny came to her rescue and stuck Mary Margaret
in
the butt.

"Jesus Christ!" shouted Mary Margaret and the Nun once again said,
"Very good," and Mary Margaret fell back asleep.

The Nun asked her a third question. "What did Eve say to Adam after
she
had her twenty-third child?"

Again, Johnny came to the rescue. This time Mary Margaret jumped up
and
shouted, "If you stick that damn thing in me one more time, I'll break
it in half!"

The Nun fainted.

Sure isn't just one soldier :retard3:...just the first SAS in history to take sucha stand.

Nope. It's just one soldier. There are many Brits here who disagree with his statement. In fact, some have called him a "whinger".

Nope, There's many soldiers. You've even seen some of their groups websites.

Cultivating a mental block?

Nope. Just seeing what's actually there. You posted about one soldier, I answered. Just because you changed the meaning of your post doesn't make your point valid. There will always be soldiers who are unwilling to fight for whatever reason they can think of. Most jump on a bandwagon that seems appropriate at the time. What they fail to realize is that they joined to fight where they are ordered to fight...not where they want to be, and not whether it's popular or not. Folks like you just give them a pass for being insubordinate because it fits your view.

Changed the meaning from soldiers to soldiers?

I give him credit for recognizing what's really going on.
