What is that sound ?? HA !!!!!
The distant rumbling of pessimism has reached the Okeefenokee !!!!.
Here in the swamp, most of us have a modicum of faith. Faith of the sort that not all democrats equal bad and not all republicans equal blue skies, apple pie and prosperity. Or vice versa.
Yes, the same people who called Bush a liar and a cheat are now saying they want to work together on some issues, knowing of course, not all fit the republican agenda. Pre-election name-calling, baiting and skewering of character is called political campaigning. It pretty much goes away when the election is over.
Wednesday, November 8th, was a different day and talk of tax cuts now come with a lot of posturing, pledging and procrastination being key words until, if it takes place, before the deed is done.
IMO, and the opinion of political analysts from the news sources available here in the swamp, Americans did not abandon President Bush based on the immigration factor (cough !! Read excuse to cover ass) but voted against the handling of the war with Iraq. That is the reason for discontent and the thumping, as labeled by President Bush. If it were as simple as an issue of immigration and amnesty, politicians and President Bush had covered their butts with the 700 mile fence bill (which will most likely never be installed)while many democrats (liberal) wanted amnesty and still the democrats got elected. Did it make a difference ????? NAH !!!!!
Explanation: not considering the feelings of the rest of the world as much as making the point, what happens in the United States affects directly and indirectly, the rest of the world.
A biased, pessimistic view is not what Americans should be offering. People need to want to work together for a better future for this nation, not just the republicans. I suppose it is too much to ask people to wait, rather than heaping scorn on the newly elected representatives before they have a chance to demonstrate what they can do.
President Bush and his cabinet demonstrated three and one half years what they could NOT do when it came to Iraq so perhaps it is time for another approach yet pessimists heap praise on those failed efforts of a republican administration. But that's okay??
America felt it was time to make a change. Not to pick up our gear and walk away from Iraq, but come to some sort of equitable settlement.
Hopefully, Robert Gates will get things on track rather than the Rumsfeld method of wandering like a drunken minstrels singing the same ole song, "stay the course".
That got us nowhere.
Been there done that, it failed ???? Why do I get the feeling no matter how it turns out, in the minds of pessimists, if it handled by a democrat, it will always be a failure ????
